man, that's the original equipment for VW/Audi. I think they changed their packaging because the o-ring was in the oil filter and not the plastic bag in the box. I would only check the center of the filter if you can't see the o-ring.

Always loved OEM for my filters. Have used this filter for many oil changes in my Jetta 1.8t Gen3. I've always changed the oil every 3-5,000km and never had a problem. Much better than K&N filters as they seemed to give me problems and wrinkles after an oil change. Definitely recommended for your German car service.

Mann filters are of excellent quality and are used in many OEM applications. I have used them in VW, BMW and Volvo vehicles for many years and have never encountered any defects. This is a replacement element that fits into the plastic oil filter housing which is not included in the kit. I bought it for my son's 2015 VW Golf with the base 1.8 liter TSI turbocharged four cylinder engine.

I have a Q5 2018, just received the filter in soft packaging with a crumbling box. The filter says "Made in Mexico". I put it next to the factory filter that I bought from the dealer and you can tell that the quality is worse, the folds are not so straight (see photo). The price difference is only $1.5; not worth the savings. I used to have a 2001 BMW 530i oil filter with a similar paper cartridge design and bought Mann oil filters and they were made in Germany with factory quality much better…
