Time-Or-Money Tool Kits

It's an overpriced piece of metal, but you'll save hundreds of dollars if you repair the cylinder yourself. So you can easily open the cylinder in a few minutes and reassemble it with confidence. Of course you can just return it after using it once, but I really don't mind leaving it for next time or for a friend in a bind. It's worth the money because I didn't waste time putting it on and scratching the aluminum.

but none could offer easy cap removal

I really didn't want to spend money on this tool. After all, this is a one-time thing and I'm not overhauling incline systems. However, I am in the business of causing as much agony as possible. I've tried a few other solutions (a Harbor Freight pin wrench and a drilled adjustable wrench) but none of them made removing the cover easy. However, this tool is very well built and works like a charm. If you're trying to save money by doing this work yourself, don't be stingy. If you screw up these…

Magic Tilt & Trim Cylinder Key

Glad I listened to other reviews and got this key instead of a general purpose gland key. I had to use this tool and a 24" breaker to get it moving. This tool bit and twisted it easily without damaging anything. Since this tool is cheaper than a new end cap and if you damage the end cap you may not even be able to take it apart, but that really isn't a problem. Yes, it's expensive, but if you hop in a snap-on truck and see how much they charge for specialty tools of the same quality, you'll see

Just right for working with a trim cylinder

Just right for working with a trim cylinder. You might think the cost is high, but trust me it's worth using the right tool and not damaging the cylinder heads. If you use a cheap or wrong tool and damage the cap; Then you have to replace the cap for about $200. I used this tool and the work was much easier. First I tried a cheaper tool and bent the tool. Lesson learned and luckily it bent the tool and didn't damage my lid. Marine Tech also has some of the best customer service representatives…

Pros
  • Outstanding design
Cons
  • Unreliable

The product description in this part reads "Yamaha Factory Equivalent Tool: YB-06175-2B". That is not true. My service book lists the Yamaha YB-06175-2B as the correct tool for my engine. 2005 F225 KURD. AMT0009 is most likely only a partial replacement for YB-016175-2B. The Marine Tech Tool (ATM0009) came with an application diagram showing I need an AMT0004. It's a slightly larger span with smaller pins and looking at my caps I think it would be the right tool. I suggest Marine Tech Tools…

Use wisely for fluids and maintenance

Fools are in a hurry and pins can pop out. Don't put all your trust in this magical tool. You still have to use your head and some muscles. Make sure to use even balance and pressure. Make sure you use common sense. This tool worked for me on a stubborn saltwater TT cap. The first attempt without patience, common sense, or proper balance resulted in the tool {pins} popping out and scratching the holes. who is guilty mine or tools. Second try, patience and common sense and the right pressure…
