The standard filter tube is too short for a 55 gallon tank so with a small modification the extensions can be run very close to the bottom of the tank can. which helps water circulate.

Hose sold separately from hose. Very expensive. You end up paying double for shipping and a lot for each piece. I am extremely disappointed. As for the Emperor 400 or 280. These are amazing filters.

Please note the pipe is NOT 13 inches. I believe this lengthens the filter tube to 13 inches. Just a little misleading. Not quite long enough for my turtle tank yet, I would get more and just trim it down if available.

Just to share the tube I received it is 13" full length. You must have a medium strainer to connect this pipe to your existing inlet pipe. This worked perfectly for my Emperor 400 which already had a mid range filter but a shorter tube, this tube measures approximately 1.5 x 0.75 x 13 inches.

I bought this tube thinking it could be added to the Emperor 400 filter but it isn't. It's essentially a spare hose that comes with the filter in case you need a new hose. I was looking for a pipe to add to bring the filter closer to the bottom of my aquarium. Not this product. I saved it in case I need a replacement. Aside from not being able to use it to extend the length of an existing hose, this product is fine.
