Great, but I can't say anything about durability. :-/

This heater works well. It's fully submersible, which is very convenient, allowing you to place it anywhere in your aquarium. I use mine horizontally in the middle. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because my original one was defective and stopped heating after about 2.5-3 months of use. The good news is that Marineland has replaced it.

Pros
  • The Triac thermostat uses a lower voltage to turn the heater on and off, offering superior performance and reliability.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

FOR THE THIRD TIME IN 6 MONTHS!

This heater is complete garbage. ATTENTION: I have bought a total of three of these devices in the last 6 months. EVERYTHING HAPPENED AND THERE WAS NO HEATING. EXECUTE FROM MARINELAND HEATING MATERIALS. I used them exclusively 20 years ago and they were of good quality then, but now I am convinced that their workmanship is outdated. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY! I have been an aquarist for 30 years and have never been so disappointed in my life. COMPLETE SHIT!

Pros
  • Easily set the temperature with a fine adjustment knob that adjusts 1 degree Fahrenheit with each click.
Cons
  • Protection

Very inaccurate: fish and aquatic animals

I have a 60 gallon Marineland aquarium and ALL I have was Marineland so I decided to leave it the same and give them to get a heater. This 250W heater should heat up a 70 gallon aquarium, but it can barely handle my 60 gallons. I have a heater to the left of the tank next to the water flow from my Marineland Penguin 350B to help with heat dissipation. around the tank. But I have to turn the knob to about 82 to keep the temp at 77. The temperature in my room is about 67 degrees, so it's notโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Efficient heat transfer through mica core epoxy filled heating element
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Didn't live up to expectations

After some research and reading some forums I read that many people were effectively using 2-3 of it in tanks. much larger than mine, one person even claimed to have used a 300 watt tank in a 100 gallon tank and it worked great. -76). Now I don't know where these people lived but I know I live in Massachusetts which means I need something stronger in the winter because I like the cold but I don't like water so when everything is in my room 50-60 degrees, I have to turn on the sink. The heatingโ€ฆ
