Rulers are not held close to the fabric so the Springer foot vibrates them so much that they pop out if not held. This complicates the process! I work on a long arm machine and do a lot of freestyle quilting. This hoop allows me to create large designs without having to change hand position and quilting. I even rotate it diagonally to get even more width for some designs! I can rest my hands on it and bring my hands closer to the needle area if desired.
