Marvel Dice Masters Avengers Building Review

I love dice masters. It's a solid MTG-style experience, but it's cheaper to collect and you don't have to have the best. All in all a good game with fast filler. I especially love this set and the spooky X-Men set. They have different colors for some dice, but many have the same power/dice faces for the same character. This means they are super compatible and you can use your Cyclops supernatural card with your Cyclops dice against the Avengers and vice versa.

Ok my 16 year old son got this for my birthday so he has someone to play with when none of his friends are around. I remember the Pokémon phase and honestly I wasn't thrilled with any other card game for kids. Then I started learning about the game, including watching some online videos. This is a great game in the spirit of Magic the Gathering. This is a deck builder that uses bones and the theme is well integrated. Basically you choose 8 characters and start with a weak helper/single energy cube. As you roll dice and use energy, you buy dice, build your "deck" and increase your strength. I am very intrigued by this game after playing the evening with a friend. Without getting into the rules here (you can find them elsewhere), I have to say that the level of customization gives this game tremendous potential. It's very similar to Quarrior's, but with a few key changes that give it more depth. Oh my gosh, we're officially hooked on Dice Masters because of this starter set! What we didn't realize was that this was the strongest of the storylines (i.e. compared to Age of Ultron, etc.) in terms of character emphasis, card ability strength, and dice strength. We also bought Age of Ultron and were a bit disappointed with how weak it is.
