Description of Maxxis Aggressor 29 x 2.5 Enduro 🚵 Tire: Dual Compound, Tubeless Ready, DoubleDown Casing, WideTrail

AGGRESSOR: The Aggressor is designed for high-speed modern mountain bike trails. Advanced knob shaping creates extra gripping edges, and reinforced side knobs offer enhanced stability when cornering at speed. An all-around trail tire excelling on everything from loose cross country race courses to heavy all-mountain riding. DoubleDown (DD): The next step in the evolution of the dual-ply tire casing for enduro racing. Two 120 TPI casing layers reinforced with a butyl insert provide the enduro racer with the support and protection of a downhill tire, but in a lighter package. WIDE TRAIL: Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tire’s tread layout and profile on today’s modern, wider rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, leading to less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35mm inner rim width but are proven to work over a range from 30-35mm inner rim widths, depending on the rider’s preference. DUAL COMPOUND: Two compounds used within the tread offer lower rolling resistance and increased cornering grip compared to single compound tires. TUBELESS READY: Sealant-compatible rubber is used with a Tubeless Ready bead to securley lock to the rim with, or without, an innertube.

Withstands bumps.

I was constantly blowing holes in DHR tires on landing, got on my e-bike here in Fx where a trail of hard sharp rocks is the norm. This DD tire has survived the toughest landings and not a single puncture. The controls are good.

Pros
  • DUAL COMPOSITION: Two tread compounds provide lower rolling resistance and better cornering grip than tires with a single compound.
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Great tire for e-bike! for tires and tubes

I use this on a Commencal Meta Power 29 Race ebike in the rear and it holds up well. The DD cover is perfect for this bike and have had no issues with sidewall cracking and I run very sharp volcanic rocks and kick shit out of the sidewalls. Excellent traction in the tough conditions we ride in here in the desert.

Pros
  • DoubleDown (DD): the next step in the development of double-layer enduro tire casings. Two plies of 120 TPI carcass reinforced with a butyl liner give the enduro rider the support and protection of a downhill tire but in a lighter package.
Cons
  • Socket required

One of the best tires on the market

These are some of the best tires on the market today. For the past 2 years I've been looking for reasons not to use Maxxis. There's a reason everyone uses Maxxis. I've paired this with a DHF up front and it's by far the best tire combo I've ever put on my bikes. Soon I will equip my other installations with it.

Pros
  • WIDE TRAIL: Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes tread placement and tire profile on modern, wider rims. Conventional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, resulting in suboptimal performance. WT tires are optimized for 35mm internal rim widths but have been proven to work in the 30mm to 35mm internal rim width range depending on rider preference.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Favorite Rear Tire for Tire

By far my favorite tire in PNW conditions that I run regularly. It rolls fast, has a very stable ride, the rim grips cling to everything. I ride about 1/2 wet and 1/2 dry side of the Cascades and the Aggressor grips everywhere (except in sloppy conditions). Installing a DD can be tricky if you're using thick rim tape, but it's not a problem if you're only using tubeless tape. I have found that I can run 1.5-2psi less in the DD version with no side effects.

Pros
  • TUBELESS READY: Sealant compatible rubber coupled with a tubeless ready bead for a secure fit on a tubed or tubeless rim.
Cons
  • Hard to say
