Description of ๐Ÿšฒ MAXXIS Aggressor 27.5 x 2.5: Dual Compound, EXO Puncture Protection, Wide Trail - Performance Expertise

AGGRESSOR: Designed for high-speed modern mountain bike trails. Advanced knob shaping creates extra gripping edges, and reinforced side knobs offer enhanced stability when cornering at speed. ALL-AROUND TRAIL: Excells on everything from loose cross country race courses to heavy all-mountain riding. EXO: An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain tires. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for exceptionally rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high. DUAL COMPOUND: Two compounds used within the tread offer lower rolling resistance and increased cornering grip compared to single compound tires. TUBELESS READY: Sealant-compatible rubber is used with a Tubeless Ready bead to securley lock to the rim with, or without, an innertube.

A disappointment for the exceptional Maxxis tire line.

I am a big fan of Maxxis tires but this particular model does not match the specs of others. When driving aggressively this tire can be very unpredictable in corners and to make matters worse the sidewall cracked on my first ride. I'm glad the return was accepted and I will continue to use Maxxis tires. However, I will avoid aggressor tires.

Pros
  • DUAL COMPOSITION: Two tread compounds provide lower rolling resistance and better cornering grip than single compound tires.
Cons
  • I will add later

I liked it so far.

Decided to try this on a rear replacement for a worn dhf tire. Sadly only ridden about 100 miles before the side panel burst with a 1 inch cut. Must have stumbled over a sharp rock on the way. However, I probably should have gone with the WT version of the tire as the wider lugs would provide better sidewall protection on the 30mm rims. Went back to dhf wt in exo+ thickness. You'll probably stick with it until the tabs fall off again.

Pros
  • AGGRESSOR: Developed for fast, modern mountain bike trails. The newly designed grip shape creates additional gripping edges, while the reinforced side grips provide more stability when cornering at high speed.
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Excellent trail rear tire CO

I ride my bike in Colorado, so I need a rear tire that grips loose, dry, slippery, and chunky trails. I've used Rekons for years and they hold up pretty well but not too well on rough materials. I then tried running the DHF on the back which was very stable up and down when losing but when you get to the smooth path you feel like you are pulling the boat off the anchor. Well the Aggressor sits right in the middle and has good rolling resistance and traction so no complaints so far. Afterโ€ฆ

Pros
  • TUBELESS READY: Sealant compatible rubber combined with Tubeless Ready bead for a secure fit on the rim with or without a tube.
