My chef's knives went dull and I tried to see one of these things.

My chef's knives got dull and I tried one of these things to see if I could sharpen them again. Works perfectly! Now my knife is super sharp again. It's not that hard to use either, I was a bit afraid I wouldn't hold my knife at the right angle, but after a bit of work it became pretty easy.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall
Cons
  • Doubtful

Good size and great quality

This is an excellent quality stone. It is wide and long, making it easier to sharpen long knives. When I received the stone it was perfectly flat. I recommend these $80+ branded knifemaker stones. A note on granularity. 1000/3000 is a good combination for kitchen knives. You can get a thinner edge, say 6k-8k, but that thin edge will dull faster. 3000 is enough for a sure sharp blade that stays sharp much longer.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Great stone at a good price

I would recommend this stone as a relatively inexpensive way to get very sharp knives. The reason I went with the 1000 and 3000 combo is because I already had golf stones and heard people had problems with knives that cut 6000+ grit stones. After I've finished sharpening with a 3000 stone I can sand it down with green abrasive paste to make it sharper if I want. However, by the time I'm done with a 3000 grit stone, the knife is already very sharp. My stones have come out perfectly flat and…

  • Great for outdoor activities
