    disappointed good for me

I've always loved Merrells and buy them often, but these boots were a huge disappointment to me. Worn less than a year, only occasionally worn as casual wear. The last time I hiked (light hiking and only about the 4th time with these boots) I lost some profile on both boots. This is the first time I've been let down by Merrell and hopefully it's just an anomaly.

    Pros
    • I'm ordering a second pair
    Cons
    • They lasted 19 months. Apparently the quality is not the same. The previous pair lasted 8 or 9 years. Good boots, so far they have held up.

I have the exact same shoes a few years ago, men's size 11 (they were made in China). They are significantly 1/2 inch shorter (they were made in Vietnam). Several other posters have encountered the same sizing issue. I'm trading them in for 1/2 size up as otherwise they are great boots, my previous set lasted a couple of years.

    Pros
    • Great shoe, you won't be disappointed
    Cons
    • May not provide sufficient Arch support for some users.

The tread ribs came loose on first use.

I've always liked Merrells because they fit my feet perfectly. You were no exception. But after walking about 20 miles on groomed trails in Shenandoah National Park (when I first put them on) I found that 4 studs were torn off (2 on each boot) and another one on each boot was badly mangled . It's a shame because they were so comfortable even without a slump. I've since switched to a different brand. Damn.

    Pros
    • I run 6-10 miles a day. These shoes have lasted a long time and still offer great support.
    Cons
    • May not be as versatile as other hiking shoes

    Rate my verdict: my rating

I usually wear a size 11. Bought a half size larger than all my hiking boots. I should have taken this one a full size up. Great shoes, light and great support. Just measure them.

    Pros
    • Slightly narrower than my chameleon range.
    Cons
    • May be more expensive compared to other hiking shoes

Merrill is doing a great job!

I understand that every shoe and boot manufacturer has different lasts, but Merrills has always worked for me. This is no exception. Quality and fit every time. The only caveat I would add is that these are mid-ankle boots. So if you need extra support I would suggest not limiting yourself to mid-ankle boots. Otherwise a fantastic product!

    Pros
    • This is by far the best shoe I've worn in years.
    Cons
    • Tends to wear out quickly

the most uncomfortable merrels i have ever worn

I've worn them twice (with a 2 day break) and it seemed like I had the worst stone chip on the ball of my foot. I've been wearing Merrells exclusively for 10 years, by far the most uncomfortable Merrells ever. In these boots it seemed to me that I was wearing lump funnels. I don't know if it was just a mistake in this couple or what but terribly disappointed.

    Pros
    • Very comfortable walking shoes.
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be suitable for people with high arches.

Get a size good for me

I gave this one star less because I had to return the first size. I found that I had to buy a size larger than what I usually wear. But these are great shoes! Feels comfortable, secure and keeps my feet dry.

    Pros
    • I am happy.
    Cons
    • The sole may be slippery on certain surfaces.

The color is far from the best in my rating

I love Merrell, the shoes fit and feel great. Just pay attention to the color. I ordered them in Boulder and expected them to be the same color as pictured. What appeared was a tan/desert boot color. I had to treat them with coconut oil, which darkened the material.

    Pros
    • They fit as expected, very comfortable
    Cons
    • Lack of cushioning and padding in the heel area.

    Love my Merrells: my review

They are a little on the small side but having kidney cancer I often get swelling on my feet so my opinion of these shoes is unfair but they are the quality I have always come to expect from my hiking shoes.

    Pros
    • I really liked the colors and the wearing comfort of the shoes. They are better than I expected.
    Cons
    • The size may be small or narrow for some users.

    Comfortable and spacious!

The most comfortable Merrell product I have ever bought for my husband, well worth the price! I've been buying Merrill boots for my husband for about 10 years. It was normally a 10.5 in width (this boot does not come in a wide size), my husband says this boot is very roomy and comfortable.

    Pros
    • i love the boot The second pair of tires is broken again, do I have to send it back?
    Cons
    • Shoelaces can break or tear.

    Revainrating 4 out of 5

    Nice boot, my review

They are quite comfortable right out of the box. Just a little new toughness. My feet get a bit warm after about 5 hours so I'm not sure how well they breathe or not. But most of all I love these boots. I wear them to work from Monday to Friday.

    Pros
    • Love her! Light and comfortable. My third pair of Merrells. Definitely not my last!
    Cons
    • Shoes can be too expensive for people on a budget.

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as good as the last pair

I go and work in them. My second pair. Now for the bad. My right leg creaks when walking and my left was wet today. The boots are less than 2 months old.

    Pros
    • The most comfortable shoes I've ever had. Nice to look at for download.
    Cons
    • Shoes may not be suitable for running or long hikes.

    Amazing when wet.

I've always been a fan of Merrell shoes but these are by far the most comfortable shoes I own. I worked outside in a foot of snow and they kept my feet completely dry and the grip was great. Very easy to put on and take off which is a nice bonus.

    Pros
    • Boots! The quality is excellent and very comfortable.
    Cons
    • The waterproof membrane can wear down over time, leading to leaks.

He says they're so comfortable he wears them everywhere.

Bought these for my husband and he loves them! He says they're so comfortable he wears them everywhere. Not warm enough for hiking/walking in very cold weather.

    Pros
    • love her
    Cons
    • Shoes can be too stiff for those who prefer flexibility.

    Revainrating 3 out of 5

    Too small for tourists

Good quality shoes but run small. I'm usually 10.5, so I got 11 for hiking. No way! My thumbs are at the end. After an 8 mile walk I thought I was going to lose my toenails.

    Pros
    • Great shoe and holds up well. It takes time to fully crack. But it's normal.
    Cons
    • The sole falls apart after 3 months of active use, I will not buy again

Not like Merrell from back then?!

I was a Merrell devotee and bought Merrell's Chameleon matte leather sneakers a few times from 2001-2002 to 2007-2008 or so. couldn't find the same boots EVER after that 🥾? I've been wearing OBOZ now since the original employees who used to work for Merrell started OBOZ and while they aren't as good as the original insoles which I liked, the OBOZ Mid-Hikers are GREAT for everyday use and Abuse!

    Pros
    • Used for work
    Cons
    • May not be suitable for use in extreme weather conditions

    Revainrating 4 out of 5

    Very comfortable but not breathable

I've been wearing them for about a month and I really like them! The only downside I have is that after wearing them for a long time, they soak up all the sweat and hold it in place.

    Pros
    • My son loves these boots. He's a lot happier with it than his last Merrill's set, which he also enjoyed.
    Cons
    • The shoe may not be as durable as other running shoes in its price range.

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Durable and comfortable

I went hiking in Sedona and these boots are amazing. Lightweight and durable. I had great traction climbing Devil's Bridge. I highly recommend these Merrell boots!

    Pros
    • Stylish and stunning and they arrived quickly. They are so unique that everyone asks me about them.
    Cons
    • The sole may be too thick for some users, which may cause them to trip or stumble.

    Revainrating 5 out of 5

    Good, comfortable walking shoes

It's always risky buying shoes online, especially from a company you've never used before. I was looking for a durable, lightweight hiking shoe for moderate weather and this shoe did not disappoint. Firstly it fit perfectly and I ordered my true size. So there are no problems. Seems to be a well made shoe and is very comfortable right out of the box. I would take her again.

    Pros
    • These boots fit my feet perfectly.
    Cons
    • May not be as stylish as other hiking shoe options.

    Revainrating 1 out of 5

    Disappointed with your rating

I've worn Merrell since 2007 and have come to expect superior comfort and durability. Other than that it was an absolute disappointment. I've been wearing them for less than 3 months and the sole has fallen apart. I've always gotten at least a year if not more from my Merrells and these go in the trash.

    Pros
    • Comfortable and waterproof
    Cons
    • Some buyers may find the shoes too bulky.
