Great shoes, great quality! Would buy again.

Amazing shoes with amazing support. Used for hiking on high mountain peaks. Excellent foot protection and excellent ankle support. Ideal for camping, hiking or just being outside.

Pros
  • Very convenient! All is well
Cons
  • Water resistance can make shoes feel heavy and unwieldy.

Malfunction!: my rating

I loved the great shoes. Less than 50 miles later (much less) the top cleat on one of the shoes came loose. On the inside, small metal plates are attached to the back of the ear. The plate fell off some time ago. I used some super glue to get a few more miles out before it pops out.

Pros
  • Good comfortable shoe
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with wide or narrow feet.

Super comfortable! to my rating.

The most comfortable shoes/boots I've ever had, wear them every day since I've had them, I've gotten a lot of compliments too

Pros
  • I swear they put my legs in a cast for this!!!
Cons
  • Shoes may not be suitable for people with flat feet.

They are good for what I need them for

I am a woman who occasionally wears men's hiking shoes. I bought these for everyday use on local trails in California. I'm not sure I'll be hiking more seriously in them, but everything will be fine here, especially in late summer and fall/winter. It's a bit warm here for the summer. I definitely wouldn't pay $170, the original price, but for less than $100 I think they will work just fine. They have good stability which I need.

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

I bought these to replace my Merrell Continuums which were wearing out after years of heavy use. They are very comfortable and similar in style to the old school version. They feel a little "cheaper" than the originals. For example, plastic lace loops versus the old brass/metal rivets and some very minor seam/taping defects. I'm very happy with the fit, let's see how they hold up. I checked the clothes. My old pair were one of the best shoes I've ever had and I loved them hope they last :)

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Almost everything is here

Medium-high neckline

originally: They are average height hikers but not tall enough to support their ankles. They're better than low-top sneakers, but I lack support when getting into the rough, rocky conditions of ankle twisting. You look great. Just use them, dress up. The shoe came open today. I sat down to tie and found that the eye hole on the right side had popped out. The two holes stay in place and hang down from the knotted cord. So much for the reputation of these hiking boots. Couldn't stand 65 years of…

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.

Comfortable but not durable

I liked these shoes for the first 3 months. Very light and comfortable. I'm a landscaper and walk a lot, so I figured a few famous Merrell's would do. I was (literally) wrong. After 3 months of daily use, the sole sagged under my toes causing my feet to sit at an odd reverse angle and my pinky digging into my ring finger. I tried swapping out the inserts but the problem was in the sole of the boot itself so the insole only fixed the issue for a day or two before sagging and mimicking the shape…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quick start guide

Thank you Merrell and Bear!

My husband sorts boots and shoes quickly. He's on his feet a lot in different terrains. It also has a slightly high arch that causes a lot of pain when souls are broken. We have tried so many different insoles and shoe brands with no success. Finally he looked desperately at what Bear Grylls was wearing. We're not celebrity fanatics, just down to earth folks, and the pragmatic thought was that if Bear gets lucky with the brand/style with all its forays into weather and landscape variations…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Negative is available
