Rugged Merrell Unisex-Child Trail Chaser Hiking Sneaker: Durable Footwear for Adventurous Kids Review

The protector wears well, which says a lot for my child. The downside is that my husband had to apply shoe glue to the toe where the rubber and material meet. He had to do this with both Merrell shoes for both boys. They say it's easy to fix.

These shoes support and provide more stability when walking. My child has poor eyesight and can put them on by himself, plus he never stumbles or falls while putting them on. We just increase the size as she grows and I love that they are wide! My only complaint is that we just bought the largest size and it goes down to men's sizes.

My son has been wearing these shoes for years because they are the only wide shoes we can find. The quality is usually excellent and his sneakers last 7-8 months. This last couple had a hard tongue. It wasn't soft like usual, my son had bruises and bruises on his legs. We increased the size and brand and had the same issue, a hard tongue on the left side near the seam that hurt the toe of his foot. Not sure what's going on but it's so disappointing because we can't find boys wide leg sneakers…

I think I wrote the first review but I was disgusted because these shoes appear to have mold. The box was in a bag but the box itself had a small damage (didn't repair the bag so it looked like it was weatherproof). Could it be a mold problem in the warehouse? I've never seen this - I returned it quickly, I can't give it to my child. I hope the other pair I ordered for my other son (shoes on the way) arrive in the best possible condition.

Merrells are generally sturdy and my son travels well. But after a short time, the fabric around the ankle of both shoes tore in several places.

He says they are comfortable. The Velcro is divided twice on the strap to fix the shoes. Tried to sew and glue back. None of them worked. The strap holds the shoes in place, so there are no shoes now.

I ordered them for my grandson for Christmas. I got them about 1/2 size larger than requested because grandma knows how fast these kids feet grow. However, he put them on and didn't want to take them off. Hope they hold up well.

My son has been wearing these shoes for a little over 2 months and they have completely fallen apart. The toe of one of his boots is gone, his toes sticking out. I have never experienced anything like this with any of my children's shoes.

The size is too small. The New Balance 570 was much better in the same size, unfortunately they don't do it with the velcro option anymore. I'll come back to this and just get laced up.

I think this product needs more quality, it's better to pay 20 follards more and have better quality. Especially for running or hiking.

The son wore these for 1-2 months and one shoe has a hole in the insert on the heel. Hole through to the sole! For the price I expect much better performance. Merrill's reputation here was inaccurate.

They were by no means cheap. And he never said anything about being used, let alone VERY USED. I've never had a problem with revine.

It was important to me to find comfortable shoes for my grandson that offer good support and a wide width. No one should squeeze their feet into shoes, especially a child.

They cost money because they can take a real beating. They have served us consistently, two to three times longer than any other children's shoe. This is probably our fifth pair. I don't buy anything for everyday use anymore.

These shoes were delivered on September 8th. broke on October 21. I figured a good brand like this would last better. Basically, they were only worn to school and shopping, not for hiking and other things! So disappointing.

Bought for my son. The boys wear the shoes diligently and they hold up nicely. He has ridden them many miles and they are still intact.

The secondary color of the gray shoes appears to be blue in the online image, but in person it's more of a purple blue. While the item says unisex online, the packaging says girls.

Terrible quality. The front of one of the shoes started cracking and peeling after just a month of use. The other shoe still looks good. Maybe it was a factory wedding. I do not know.

My kids are very picky about shoes, but regular sneakers don't help when hiking. They really love it! My son prefers these to his sneakers!
