Description of ๐Ÿ”ช Messermeister San Moritz Elite 6-Inch Chef's Knife

The German 1.4116 high-carbon, stainless alloy blade resists stains and corrosion, exhibits toughness and durability, holds its edge retention, and is easy to re-sharpen to a razor-like edge. This knife line is one-piece, hot-drop hammer forged, which produces the strongest blade from heel to tip. The blades are heat treated and cooled to achieve a Rockwell of 57-58. The three-step, 15 degree โ€œEliteโ€ edge is hand stropped on a cloth wheel, creating the sharpest possible cutting surface on an edged tool. The bolsterless heel simplifies all cutting, sharpening & honing tasks, making use of the entire blade from heel to tip. Handcrafted in the historic cutlery capital of Solingen, Germany. The Knife for Life guarantee provides a lifetime warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

I love this knife - chef's knife

I LOVE this knife. I researched many knives before getting this one and I am very happy with it. The novelty is surprisingly sharp and lasts very well. The balance is great and I love the grip. It also feels very solid, durable and well made.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • No

Good solid knife. for chef's knife

Bought for my girlfriend who loves to cook. This knife is instantly razor sharp. She hasn't had any trouble cutting anything so far. She cuts meat, veggies, and fruit every week and says that knife doesn't get in the way at all. Excellent knife.

Pros
  • Good assembly
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

High-quality, well-balanced chef's knife

Messermeister kitchen knives are first class. They have a slightly more curved blade shape than some brands (like the Henkel Professional S), making it easier to swing. Like other German forged blades, it is sharp and holds its edge very well. This is a great kitchen tool.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Great weight, holds the edge despite use.

Great weight, holds up despite frequent use in recent months. I can cut pineapple, steak, carrots, anything with no trouble because it's so spicy. Also very easy to clean :) Got the 9" and was a bit worried it would be too uncomfortable - but it isn't!

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Definitely a quality knife. I wish I walked a little less.

This knife is sharp with a lightly soiled blade and is heavy enough to get through any kitchen chore. I have the 10 inch Elite. Food tends to stick to the edges of the blades and needs to be scraped off.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Excellent knife. Not delivered well (see photo).

So far the knife is fantastic. Excellent in all areas. Arrived sharp enough to shave the hair off my arm with no problem. The only problem is that it arrived with a partially opened plastic wrap on top of the box and the laser marking on the knife was a bit corroded which I haven't removed yet (see photo). Great knife. I just want mine to be in the best condition for $120.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Nothing

Exceeded all my expectations!

I've been using the knife for a week now and it has exceeded all my expectations. Super sharp but holds the edge very well. I found it just as crisp and sharp as the MAC MDK-90 which I replaced with this one as it just didn't fit in my large hands. I was expecting a slight drop in performance but didn't notice anything and have even seen better edge retention so far. Highly recommended as the quality is immediately apparent.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent

A classic German chef's knife that will not disappoint!

This is a classic German chef's knife made with high quality German steel. It has a Rockwell hardness of 57-58, so it's not as brittle as Japanese chef's knives and can be sharpened easily with a good sharpening steel. Place in the knife block, pull out and hit the sharpening steel - done. If you hit something hard you may curl the edge a bit, but this can be pulled out on some whetstones. It is a pleasure to use and I expect it to last for many years.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • A small change
