Lightning rod MFJ 270

Excellent quality! My SWR actually dropped 0.5 when I added this with the right ground. Attention, many others have a maximum power of 50W! This is specified as 400 watts.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Lightning Protection Hope!

I'm currently using this with an end-fed SWL antenna. I hope to get a ham radio license in the future and with that in mind my purchase of this unit will work with any humble transceiver.

Pros
  • Fancy Design
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Easy Install: CB Radios and Scanners

Mount this in a junction box near where my antenna coax enters the attic. The ground wire crimp connector was easy to use even if I only had needle nose pliers at my disposal. I hope I never need it, but definitely feel a lot better when I have it!

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Updates

Lightning arrestor and earth connection.

I hope the MFJ-270 is never tested. I place two of these for each antenna. One at the base of the antenna and the other at the back of the house. Hope to cut EFI over coax. Trying to reduce the noise going back to Ham Shack.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

I haven't checked yet

I really hope I never have to test this, which means I hope my antenna never gets struck by lightning. However, I'm happy to have included it in my antenna setup anyway. I connected it to my antenna a long time ago. As far as I could tell, this didn't affect the performance of the antenna. Neither impedance nor SWR have changed.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Expandable

A good security addition to any antenna

The product name may be overly ambitious. It probably can't prevent a lightning strike from doing damage. However, it can dissipate high surge voltages generated by nearby lightning. It should be near the earth rod, which is connected to the rod with thick copper wire. Cut the coax cable and plug in a PL-259 connector on each side. Screw them onto a lightning rod on SO-239. Installation completed. You may feel a little more comfortable but still remove the antenna cable from the radio during a…
