Only fits at end of station

Mine has worked well with all types of unbalanced and balanced antennas, grounded and ungrounded. However, it's not even remotely water-resistant. The connectors are not sealed and there is a small hole at each end. So don't even think about using it at an entry point in anything other than 24 hour warm, dry weather. Go elsewhere for a feed point choke and be prepared to spend a lot more money. But don't get rid of this thing. In some situations you may need both.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Unreliable

Works wonders for HF in a cabin

All my HF interference problems went away after I placed this neat isolator in line with the antenna. I connect the DX3000 to an Ameritron AL811H amplifier and a multiport antenna switcher. It then goes to the MFJ-962D tuner and next to it the MFJ line isolator. The final destination is the OCFD antenna. The radio frequency in my hut penetrated my ether, electrocuted my finger and rang my phone. Now it's all gone and I have a great signal. I have a MFJ-915 in a cabin. One side connects to the…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Works best in stationary radios CB

It does what it's supposed to do. I have never had an accidental RF leak past this unit and have used several of these. The only complaint I have is that one of them was sent to me with a missing screw on the plug so it was a bit loose. They can't be taken apart so I just used them as is. This in no way affects the electrical characteristics of the device, only quality control. DX Engineering makes a similar device built into an aluminum body with better build quality. But also three times more

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I'll add later

The cure for my usual problems

I replaced the 1:1 'ugly balun' (air coax choke) in the feedpoint of my broadband RF antenna with this and what a difference it made Has! I'm using an unbalanced random wire which, by the laws of physics, generates significant common mode noise when switched on. Before I hit the gas, LEDs would flash on devices that were off, and my speakers would howl when the radio was on. This was greatly reduced by incorporating a home built air wound choke and eliminated with the MFJ-915. Remember that…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • There are bugs
