I bought this device and was about to install the software that came with it. I thought I'd check for viruses first, and lo and behold, it actually does contain some viruses (I used VirusTotal's website)! I contacted the seller and he/she sent me more software to try (we did it back and forth a few times) but none of them are clean. By the time I was done trying, the return window had expired. Be very suspicious of things coming from China!

I had my doubts at first, but this inexpensive microscope does everything I wanted it to do. Not only can I quickly check coins for data, but I can also target them and check the smallest details. First I have to start with the negatives. The device did not work on my computer when the software was activated (and bit connected). I'm using Windows 10 64-bit version 1809. I removed the driver that the installer downloaded and let Windows choose the driver. Which seemed to fix it! Exclamation mark in device manager. The Amcap software kept throwing the error. Put aside after hours of trying to make it work. I bought this out of curiosity and to help me read data on coins. I tried installing on Win10 which already had a camera. Gave up after a few hours of fiddling. The effort that has been put into it so far outweighs the purpose for which I wanted to use it. I can try this out on one of my Raspberry Pi platforms if I feel like spending more time. Definitely NOT plug and play if you already have a working camera. UPDATE: The distributor contacted me
