Bought this scope as a gift for £10.

I bought this scope as a gift for 10 years. old. I verified this by looking at the coin, the pencil point and my finger. This works very well. I think it will open up a new world for the child.

Cheap Quality: Microscopes

Top LED Switch stopped working after about 2 days. Check the battery box and some bad solder joints allowed the circuit to be permanently closed and bypassed the switch so the light stayed on.

Good aim! - Stereo microscopes

I know it's written for kids but I was looking for an inexpensive field sight. The picture is good, the focus is smooth, the LED backlight is battery operated. Small enough to fit in a backpack. And 40x is quite a lot - it will probably work if you need to carry around a scope to examine fine detail. I will buy another one as a gift but I think I'll keep this one for myself.

Just unpacked, so far so good. Made of very light plastic, this portable stereoscope is ideal for exploring and discovering with children the wonders that can be found when viewing bugs, rocks, shells, plants, etc. in 3D. Decent resolution and optics, plus a built-in LED light source (battery operated) - inexpensive enough for a small child to get excited about. Supplied with five prepared/stained glass slides and a beautiful built in plastic rainbow bug. Seems a very good price at $40!

Awesome binoculars are way better than a monocular

I'm a researcher by day and a proud father by night. My son is five years old and is very interested in the world around him. When I saw that he uses a magnifying glass for almost everything, I thought about buying him a dissecting microscope. Knowing what to take but not where, I turned my attention to Revane's extensive inventory. This is a good enough stereoscopic microscope for beginners.

The optics in this low magnification stereo microscope show no noticeable distortion and the illumination and focusing mechanism work properly. I bought it because I used it in my dad's biology class as a kid and was fascinated to be able to see small objects in such detail. So does this microscope, and it does it well. It has disadvantages like straight optics so you have to look directly at the sample and small lenses so you have to be careful not to look directly over the eyepieces. Again…
