The antenna was defective. I couldn't get the SWR below 1.7 and it fluctuated everywhere. I ended up sending the device back.

Worked great on the hatch edge of a Mazda CX-5. VERY nicely done and finished. I don't have such a "lip" on my Jeep. This is a GOOD product.

Very easy installation This should be included with Midland 440! I feel like the kit is a waste of money unless you own a jeep! Ideal for hood placement.

Very weak, the mount flexes when you try to tighten it and loosens as it rocks back and forth. I had another trunk mount, I think it was a tan, it was much stronger than this one.

Why make a bracket in the form of a sponge to curl the edge of the hood, trunk or other body panel, and make the bracket out of thin metal? , the thing opens straight up and A isn't tight against the body panel and B supports the antenna off the body, it should be mostly flush. I received the GMRS radio as a gift but didn't want to use the antenna that came with the kit - I was looking for a more permanent solution.
