The SWR was too high for the antennas

The antenna was defective. I couldn't get the SWR below 1.7 and it fluctuated everywhere. I ended up sending the device back.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Volume

โ€œWorks great if you have a lip.

Worked great on the hatch edge of a Mazda CX-5. VERY nicely done and finished. I don't have such a "lip" on my Jeep. This is a GOOD product.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Modern

Trick! for antennas

Very easy installation This should be included with Midland 440! I feel like the kit is a waste of money unless you own a jeep! Ideal for hood placement.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Boring packaging

Fairly unreliable - antennas

Very weak, the mount flexes when you try to tighten it and loosens as it rocks back and forth. I had another trunk mount, I think it was a tan, it was much stronger than this one.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Unreliable

Stay in place! The best accessories and consumables

Attaches to the ham radio body. We chose this mount because it comes with a detachable PL-259 connector that makes routing cables around the cabin of the car much easier! The device bends slightly! This is where I thought about putting a matching piece of rubberized foam under the bracket where it sits just above the hood to keep it from wobbling. Company, can they be in name only? And if I had to guess, like almost everything else these days, they're probably made in the same Chinese factoryโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Too thin. Garbage. see accessories and consumables

I decided to try them. Why make a bracket in the form of a sponge to curl the edge of the hood, trunk or other body panel, and make the bracket out of thin metal? , the thing opens straight up and A isn't tight against the body panel and B supports the antenna off the body, it should be mostly flush. I'm sending this garbage back. I bet and lost on this junk. Don't buy if you need a powerful mount, but you really have limited choices. WATCH OUT. Midland should be ashamed, it's on par with those

Pros
  • Includes universal mount, cable and hex key
Cons
  • Works

Stays in place!: Accessories and consumables

Mount used to mount on ham radio antenna housing. We chose this mount because it comes with a detachable PL-259 connector, which makes it a lot easier to insert the cable into the vehicle cabin! The device bends slightly! Where I thought of putting an appropriately sized rubberized piece of foam under the bracket where it sits just above the hood to keep it from wobbling. It has the old name of a reliable radio company written on it. , (Midland) but how many companies can they be in name onlyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Universal mount fits most trunks and hoods
Cons
  • Good, but not great

I received the GMRS radio as a gift but didn't want to use the antenna that came with the kit - I was looking for a more permanent solution. That, plus the +3dB gain whip antenna, seemed just right for my Tacoma. The lens hood mounting piece fits well - there's a small gap closer to the center, but I don't see any vibration. I smeared some protective film between the mount and the paint to be on the safe side, as I don't plan on removing the thing any time soon. Pulling a cable through aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 6 meter cable attached to bracket
Cons
  • Some defects
