a good bucket in winemaking

beautiful with a hole in the lid and a measuring one. Our son brews delicious beer for us: Ginger Beer, Mackogli and more.

Good wine buckets

Good quality buckets, appear solid, lids fit well. I had no problem putting the caps on or off, but I can see where someone might. in general I am satisfied with them

Too expensive for what it is.

Works great. Too bad it costs so much. A 5 gallon bucket at Walmart is $3. The only difference between that bucket and this one is that it's an 8-gallon bucket, not even twice the size of plastic, and costs nearly $40. It's for writing (big deal) and the lid has an eyelet hole. A Walmart cap costs a few dollars. numbers for a size that's just abstract - it's bigger; so they charge more (although it doesn't cost more). It costs $12.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • No instructions

This bucket is mislabeled

I bought and returned it when I saw it was 5 gallons not 7.9. I read the reviews and left a second one. That's 7.9 gallons. We brewed our first batch of 6 gallons 2 weeks ago and it has held up showing bubbles from the sluice. Our previous brew bucket was 5 gallons and while we knew it was sealed we never saw bubbles coming out of the airlock. We started on our second 6 gallon batch and within 2 days we were seeing blisters again. So it's airtight and will definitely last over 5 gallons!

Pros
  • I'm holding my fists
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Perfect --> VERY HAPPY

Made in Canada and marked 6.5 imp gal on the bottom. 6.5 imp gallons = 7.80617 US gallons. I have measured and poured water from a 128 ounce container and each time the water level has been near the bottom gallon mark. Therefore, the graduation is given in US GALLONS. It's only labeled up to 5 US gallons, so I added another US gallon (128 ounces) and marked it for 6 gallons. At 6 US gallons, the water arm is 3 1/2 inches from the rim. I added another 1 gallon and 3 liters and the level reached…

Shovel capacity is misleading!

Pretty good quality but a bit pricey for a bucket. However, if you are making a standard 5 gallon batch of wine, you will need 2 additional gallons of capacity in your primary fermenter. You can't get a 7- to 8-gallon bucket at Home Depot, and most trash cans aren't made of food-grade plastic. That's why I spent the extra $$. ATTENTION - this bucket is made in Canada therefore the gallon scale on the side of the bucket is in imperial gallons. 5 imperial gallons = 6.00475 US gallons, so the 5…
