🔨 Milescraft 8401 TRIM45: The Ultimate Trim Carpentry Aid for Precision and Efficiency Review

I have had bad and good experiences with this tool. Firstly I think it's a good idea but half baked. It broke the day I received it. The needle pin that secures the tool to the tree is pulled out. I called the manufacturer and they sent a replacement 3 days later. Excellent customer service. This tool will never stand up to everyday use. It should be aluminum or higher quality plastic. This is very useful, but not for forever. GREAT IDEA but cheap plastic.

I used it for the first time to mark a reveal on 2 doors and found it a lot easier than my old eyeball method. I was also able to use the tape measure slots to pass my tape measure and get very accurate measurements, reducing the number of re-cuts. The trick was to use the body of the tape measure and add 3 inches instead of trying to guess the actual reading. Overall it did what I needed and made my job easier. The best part is that the woman is happy with the result.

This tool is good but I wish it had bubble levels for vertical and horizontal as shown on both sides. Also, a push button lock will sometimes open when used in multiple positions on multiple doors. It should have a thumbscrew to secure it. When doing new work you can just build yourself a contraption for this purpose if you don't need to change the "opening" values. However, if you need to match existing work, this tool comes into its own, especially as the opening varies from door to door.

After reading all the reviews and watching the videos I was undecided about the Milescraft 8401 Trim45 Trim Carpentry Aid. But for the price I decided to give it a try and I think it's a great tool. I agree with most of the reviews as I had the same problem. However, there is a learning curve once you think you know how to use this tool. I've used this tool on 3 different door moldings and it worked great. The tool has made me very happy. On my 4 door opening, I found that the lock had been changed to a different tool size. When I went to reset it, I found that the red button used to lock and display your chosen measurement was so loose that it didn't stay locked, causing your measurements to turn off. I am so disappointed with this tool, it seems to me that this tool has a factory defect. It was a big disappointment

I didn't need all the features of this product but I used most of them. (I didn't need a part that could make precise bevels because it's an electric miter saw. It allows one person to handle an amateur miter setup. The pros have no problem anyway, but I've always needed a helper.
