It holds the gun securely in place and the holster has no play when tight. I even have to pull on the holster clip to remove it if the strap is loose. The straps appear to be made of durable material. I have a 34 inch waist, just enough slack in the elastic to hold it in place and didn't need to be trimmed. It will be larger if you are looking for play at a 38 inch waist. Not sure what the clips are made of, some kind of plastic?
