The OUTER THREADS on the BULKHEADS are REVERSED, so they tighten backwards. This is because pressure from liquid, on the inside of the fermenter (tank or liquid containment system) would otherwise over time loosen the nut if it were just a standard thread. The left-hand thread will not allow it to loosen even with that pressure.
