Got the device last week and it works great. It was easy to set up

Got this unit last week and it works great. It was easy to set up. I bought this because my NEO X8-H gave up the ghost after three years of use. This new version is faster and more responsive and seems to work well with the app from the App Store. I changed the launcher to Square Home as I like it better than the default launcher. Plays all the movies I have with Kodi with no issues. I wish Kodi would bring back the Back Row skin, but that's not a Minix issue. I've been enjoying Minix products…

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Almost never

It was beautiful but broke after 4 months

I just tried another Android TV box. It was a $30 MXQ Pro 4k that I found in a $10 bin at a local pawn shop. I have some experience with embedded systems, Raspi, Kodi etc. This box is way better than my old TV box which one day literally stopped working. I only played with it one night but a software update was already available from the Minix servers. I found it smooth and intuitive to use, with a great launcher/frontend. Anyone with some Android experience should have no problem setting this…

Great box, terrible remote control.

I've had this box for a few months now. I really love it! I had a pair of Matricom set-top boxes and a Revain Fire TV set-top box. I think this one kicks both of their asses. I initially had some issues with this box due to some apps I was using, but I figured out the problem and it was my own fault, not the box. I deducted a star for the included remote control. It's absolutely awful! There's nothing you can do about it. With the same success it would also be possible without the remote…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Not bad

Awesome android box

I have been using (2) android boxes for 2 years. Both are different brands. They were ok but not on the same level as this device. The device is as good as ready for use apart from a few small necessary adjustments. Kodi 17.0 is installed but there is no build. You need a build to watch/play movies/shows in Kodi itself. Kodi is a launcher and nothing else. Easy to fix. Go to Google Play and download Complete Kodi Setup Wizard. It's easy enough to figure out the rest from there. Once I had that…

TV box is better/cheaper.

I have a lot of experience as a user/owner of Android streaming boxes. This is my second Minix. I also have an outdated (Android 5.1 limited) Neo U1 box. For quality streaming you need at least Android 6. I looked through 3 boxes of Matricom. G box and Q&Q2. Matricom is good at taking calls and troubleshooting. They're also huge on misleading hype. Forget the "promise of easy OTA update”. Each block received one in the first week. However, users have to flash the rest to get it. Your block will
