Useful product. in wood-burning fireplaces

The swivel arm was a welcome addition to our fireplace house. The only problem was buying all the new screws. The suggestions didn't work.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Prepared for the winter.

I have a large fireplace that is open on both sides. I wanted cooking facilities in case of a power outage. The swivel arm, kettle and roaster remind me of how all the food was prepared.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Outside

Failed.: Chimneys

This assembly was intended to be fixed inside the chimney, the screws were not left in the firebox. We also waited too long to try it and now it's non-refundable and we lost over $100. Good plan, didn't work.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • No paint required

Ideal for kitchen remodel

Kitchen/study renovation (turning both rooms into the whole kitchen) and decided to convert the fireplace into a cooking area. That's great. Gives the fireplace a rustic pioneer look. I took larger mounting screws and re-drilled the current holes to enlarge them for a more secure fit.

Cook in colonial style in your fireplace at home

Very cool vintage accessory for your fireplace. The two anchors provided are rubbish - do not use. Go to the store and buy lead anchors for the top two and then only use screws for the bottom two. The top two (actually the top one) will carry the pull of the pot you're hanging from the hook, while the bottom two are just there to keep the strut upright (low shear stress). Just use screws for them. Hang it as high as you can, leaving a gap to rotate it on the outside of the doors if you have…

High quality cast iron chimney fitting.

A great addition to a family room. I haven't had a fire since I upgraded my fireplace, but I'm ready for cold weather. I can't wait to make my first batch of chili! Before installation, make sure your hand is in the sleeves. I took the advice of others and spent $5 on high-performance Home Depot hardware. I can't say the scope of delivery was insufficient, but I didn't want to risk it. Make sure you use the right size masonry bit. When using heavy equipment, holes must be pre-drilled. I have to

Beware of cheap devices!

WARNING: Buy your own hardware (studs and inserts)! I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the cheap hardware that cost me several hours of my life. Looks good but the screws and inserts broke off in my bricks and now I have to struggle to get them out and go to the hardware store and replace them! I hope I can get them out and the stones don't go bad! At this price, there is no excuse for including cheap and poorly made parts! I added a few stars to my 1 star rating after my initial…

Well made, great design, but shies away from a few screws.

4 stars for 3 reasons: First, the manufacturer only supplies 2 anchor bolts and this part has 4 mounting holes. Second, anchors are not a common style you'll find at your local hardware store or major department store. They are expansion anchors with internal thread and anchors with metric hexagon head. Finally, there are no instructions or assembly template (i.e. what size masonry bit to use, etc. etc.). I had read other reviews prior to purchasing this item so I knew 2 anchor bolts would not…
