Just not by today's standards, there are much better battery testers out there. It's old fashioned and very awkward to use in my opinion.

This "thing" has a detachable 3 inch hose that is used to drain fluid from the battery for testing purposes . It came loose and fell into the battery Extremely poor design.

Self-contained life and battery maintenance require a good hydrometer. I've tried different models and found this style to be my favorite. I find it easy to use and the numbers are clear and easy to read. It costs a bit more but is worth the price. I highly recommend.

I can't understand why this type of hydrometer has not completely replaced the glass tube hydrometers. The temperature is automatically compensated, easy to read, the glass float does not stick to the side of the glass tube which can cause reading errors, the accuracy seems to match the accuracy of a quality glass tube hydrometer if done right, well done. It's expensive, and glass tubes are very cheap, but really comfortable to use. I trust the readings of this glass tube hydrometer.

I read that some people lost their electrolyte suction tube. The handset rises a full 1/2 inch - you really have to make an effort to toggle it on and off. The readings are very easy to read – the built-in compensation makes the whole process much easier. One trick I discovered right away is that you have to hold it properly in order for the wheels to stay balanced and swing freely. It takes a minute to get used to. It is much easier to use than a disc hydrometer or thermometer.

I think they are made in Germany but not sure. Ten years ago I bought one with Hella on it. it was blue This one is the same but red and labeled Midnite. My guess is that the manufacturer is selling them to various retailers for promotional purposes. Midnite has a franchise right now. This is a very good and accurate device. The black squeeze bulb lasted ten years, testing 60 battery cells every 60 days before it had a small air leak and the acid stopped supplying enough acid into the test…
