Attention! This product is not safe to use. As per other reviews, the thickness and finish are very good, but the tolerances make the thing unsteady. Too much play in the joints. The inner diameter is too small to fit in the outer tube and the hardware is too flimsy to handle all the play. It will swing a foot from side to side. Higher weight limits are useless if the thing wobbles a lot when driving. I would choose another option.

This hitch extender works great for it's intended purpose - helping us transport kayaks! However, the package did not come with any instructions and the package was badly torn and damaged upon arrival. When I picked it up, the bottom fell out and parts fell on the floor. I love heavy duty and this extension definitely is! I personally think the designer/manufacturer got a little carried away. I have a cabin-high cape on my truck and I'm 72 years old and I shouldn't throw my canoe on the roof rack anymore. So I bought this bed extender. I have a hitch lock, but if you want the entire body extension to be yours when you load your canoe back in, you'd be better off removing it and locking it in your truck.
