crashed in less than 5 uses

I ordered this product in March because I am a writer and needed to support my writing. I treated my passport like a newborn baby and kept it in the box when not in use. I plugged it in 4 times over the next few months and the 5th time it was no longer recognized by my computer. I contacted WD support and went through all possible steps to fix the problem and finally came to the conclusion that it couldn't be fixed. So WD sends me to their support site so I can retrieve my hard drive data andโ€ฆ

Nice cheap disc. Unless of course you need assistance

This was my second Passport Ultra - too many. Continuous backups are not performed. I tried to contact Western Digital [you need to register and use PW] - ok no problem. except that they cannot accept the generated PW. The? It's kind of a tech company, right? People who are a bit tech savvy are starting to realize that if they don't use strong passwords, they can be hacked. And that requires a password manager capable of generating long, complex passwords. Come on WD, are you stuck in the darkโ€ฆ

DO NOT BUY Electronics

I bought this pass for my Mac which is low on storage. I've owned two of these discs in the past few years and both have met the same fate. The connection aspect of these drives is TERRIBLE! They are subject to the least impact. My first drive's connector broke after a small fall off the couch. It was useless and I lost all my data. I bought the disc back thinking it was my fault for dropping it. However, after a few months, the port on my second drive also broke! This time withoutโ€ฆ

Hard drives die or just Western Digital

Purchased October 2014 Died 20 August 2019 Purchased October 2014 and died August 2019 IMO the first was the 500GB MyBook, I've had a bunch of rarer/harder to find ones Music and it just lay there. That was years before Spotify and streaming music became the norm, but I know I have music on this hard drive that Spotify doesn't have. My 2TB Passport hard drive has hardly been used, I recently deleted all files and moved this to a Seagate 4TB as I decided to use a Western Digital 2TB as my Xboxโ€ฆ

Dying within a year. For the first time in my life I don't use Seagate or Toshiba and I regret it with every cell in my body. Used it to back up ALL my photos ever taken digitally or scanned from old family photos from the late 90's. PASSED. Spend extensive research and hours of conversation with WD and other computer professionals; into the problem, and for no less than $1,500 I can recover my data. Seriously, I've connected to my computer less than a dozen times and I think it's logging 200โ€ฆ

Garbage as I understand it

I've had several external hard drives in the past but two of them still work fine but they were full so I bought these. TERRIBLE! I only use it to back up files and pictures every 6 months or so and it doesn't work anymore, all my files are lost there somewhere and if I want to restore them I have to pay between 300-400 dollars because it is 1 is TB. I've tried it on multiple computers and they all get the same error message. I called the manufacturer and they said the warranty was expired. Ifโ€ฆ

The drive looks good and has a good finish.

I've been using a 640GB Seagate FreeAgent Go portable hard drive for about three years and wanted something with more storage and faster transfer speeds. I bought this drive for its whopping 2TB of storage and faster USB 3.0 interface. It comes with the drive, a 15-inch USB 3.0 cable, a soft case, a quick setup guide, and a 3-year limited warranty. The drive looks good and has a good finish. It doesn't look cheap, nor does it feel cheap. I love how compact it is. It's about an inch shorter than
