I have purchased several of these 24 inch long for the toilet and stand up shower and one 36 inch long for the bath area. I love them and they help my temporarily disabled daughter get in and out of the shower safely and use the toilet safely. The middle part is a bit rougher than the curved part - that's what Peened stands for. They're not overly harsh but help make them safer in wet environments and I highly recommend them over smooth shiny rods.

The Moen grab bar might not be the most elegant, but it could be the best, especially thanks to the texture that makes it easy to grip even with lathered hands.
