Ideal for replacing an old IDE hard drive on an old PC!

I bought this to replace an old slow hard drive in an old PC 486. It was easy to install and I copied everything from my existing hard drive and made it MS-DOS and FDISK bootable with no problems. For my project I used a 1GB compact flash card and found that the machine starts up much faster and is much more responsive. However, this is easy to fix if you know how to use a soldering iron. The board itself has an activity indicator that can be expanded and installed elsewhere. Alternatively, the

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Almost never

Works as intended, many have been used in various form factors.

These are great for older machines where replacing an IDE hard drive is next to impossible. Award BIOS ROM motherboards usually have no problems with these adapters, on the other hand Phoenix often requires you to bypass the onboard IDE and use PCI or ISA, the IDE controller or the board freezes or shows other strange quirks .

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Useless Features

Works perfectly. Tossed it into a Dell Dimension in the early 2000s.

Works great. Tossed it into an early 2000's Dell Dimension which I converted into a gigabit router (pfSense). After two hard drive failures, I decided to upgrade to an SSD. Wouldn't boot from USB for life. It worked great.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some cons

Excellent product, fits network cards

This flash drive is as durable as advertised. These discs are set up in the bowling alley on the ground floor, where players enter their names into a computer. These flash drives can withstand shock much better than a regular hard drive.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Works cheap.

It does exactly what it promises. There may be compatibility issues, but I haven't encountered them yet. I used it on my old 486 system to replace old hard drives that failed with something more modern.

Pros
  • Good build
Cons
  • Exchange availability

Works great - internals

I bought this adapter to use in a project to replace a failed hard drive in an old Tandy computer with a CompactFlash card. Booting from a CF card works great with this adapter. I haven't tried this on a newer computer, but I see no reason why it shouldn't work if you have an IDE controller. I had to power the adapter from the floppy power connector, but that wasn't a problem on my build (make sure your power supply has one of these connectors, or use an adapter cable).

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
