Shock absorbers for an old truck.

Could have scored more points for ease of installation, but the '98 Ranger's rust issues prevent everything from being easy. After removing the old shock absorbers, the installation went quickly. Multiple 12mm stainless steel nylock nuts were used to replace damaged hardware. Cost-Benefit Analysis: Worth every penny.

2004 Ranger XLT 4.0L Sideboard 4x4

2004 Ranger XLT 4.0L Sideboard 4x4. Fits well, first shock job on a truck, and living in the Midwest everything was rusty. A bottom bolt/nut came out with no problems, the other would have needed a router and possibly new hardware. I used a grinder to cut through the shock absorber bushing and then a hammer and chisel to pierce the last piece of metal. If I continued to work with the grinder, I would have to make a new lower shock absorber. Worked fine as intended.

The Gabriels hit my spine with every little dimple in the road surface. Now I feel almost no bumps in the road with these Monroe dampers. I still have the Gabriel Ultras up front, but now I'm thinking about ditching them and going to all the Monroes. UPDATE: The other day while riding on the train tracks, the…

Very smooth ride - shock absorbers

These are great shock absorbers they really smoothed out my truck. I have a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge. A few years ago I leveled the front and put on 32x11.5x15 tires. I left the stock shocks on and it was rough. I've since tried the following shocks to compensate for the big tires and lift and they've all been too stiff. I am very glad that I found Monro-matic. I finally feel comfortable driving again. - Bilstein HD - Extremely hard, hard ride. I do not recommend a medium-sized truck. - Rancho…
