Description of High-Performance Monroe 🔧 5779 OESpectrum Shock Absorber

REDUCED NOISE, VIBRATION AND HARSHNESS -- Twin Technology Active Control System delivers exceptional control under most driving conditions while isolating impact-related noise, vibration and harshness. EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Full displaced valving, tuned specifically to each vehicle, adjusts to road extremes while the larger bore provides more efficient damping control to provide consistency and a smooth ride. CONTROL AND DURABILITY -- Fluon-banded piston provides consistent sealing between piston and pressure tube for better control and increased durability. CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special additives to assist with extreme temperatures and help reduce oil breakdown. IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade. BUILT TO LAST -- Self-lubricating fluid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction against the piston rod to help reduce premature wear.

Absolute GARBAGE! for shock absorbers

when they were installed on my cobalt, the passenger side died in less than a month! DO NOT BUY THESE WOOD PARTS! The thieves.

Defective after 6 months for no reason.

Bought this product on 09/19/2017 and one of the two shock absorbers was already leaking. I'm the only rider and this pair of shocks has never been tested on a single small pothole. Very disappointing. Second chance. I just bought two Monroe 32296 Monroe Matic Plus shock absorbers for my other car. If they also fail prematurely, I will definitely never buy this brand again.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Very expensive

Just right for me as a spare

Some reviews on this item say they are not stiff enough and are too soft. If your driving style is energetic, then maybe you are. But I love a good ride and my driving style is not aggressive. If I wanted a car that I could throw around the corner, I wouldn't buy my HHR. The included shock absorbers do their job well and are reasonably priced. They arrived on time and in good condition, so I really couldn't ask for more.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons

Shocks are junk: Shocks

I bought a pair of these shocks to replace the OEM shocks on my 2009 HHR. Within a year of installing the shocks were worse than the OEMs I replaced. Totally dissatisfied with this product. Replaced those crappy shocks with an ACDelco Premium 540-442 mono tube rear shock (used on the HHR SS model). The damper fits, but now it rides without bouncing anywhere. Much better dampers than those Monroe dampers.

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Useless features

Poor quality control

The quality of the part is definitely inferior to the original damper in the painting. The hits I received had areas of bare metal that began to rust right out of the box. This is disappointing as Tenneco, now called the DR1V, is the original manufacturer of the three largest American automakers, as well as the Monroe shock absorber. It is so sad to see quality control not being followed and leaving the question as to what is the internal condition of the shock absorber. I gave 3 stars because…

THESE MONROE EXPECTATIONS SUCK!

Monroe OESectrum Rear Shock Whatever you do, DO NOT waste your money on this CHARACTER! I used to buy and install Monroe shocks but WOW they are such junk it should be against the law to sell them! I installed them today got in the car and as soon as I got in it sounded like a dog squeak, I'm not kidding I drive too, sounds like chipmunks arguing under the car what a time - and waste of money, unfortunately I'm stuck with this junk for at least a week before I can go to the auto parts store and

Both leak within a month!

Purchased in January 2021 and both Monroe 5779 shocks have been leaking for a month in February 2021! I had both A-pillars and an anti-roll bar; both rear shock absorbers (5779) are installed; 4- new tires fitted and balanced; and finished parallel collapse of 4 wheels. Now a month later both Monroe 5779 tearing shock absorbers are leaking! $1200 and rear tire wear, car traction and now a loud rear impact. I rechecked the tires and did 3 wheel alignments which only made matters worse and was…
