Description of Monroe MA743 Max Air Adjust Absorber

MAINTAIN RIDE HEIGHT UNDER LOAD -- Air chamber can be inflated or deflated up to 150 PSI to maintain level height with additional weight up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity is limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual). EASY TO ADJUST -- Special air fitting resists air leakage and ties into factory system (where applicable) or manually inflates with an air compressor; pair with Monroe air shock accessory and shock air hose AK kits (varies by application). EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Full-displaced valving on compression and extension cycles for a smooth ride. BUILT TO LAST -- Hardened and precision ground piston rod for consistent performance, sintered iron piston for enhanced durability and longer service life and lubricated air sleeve reduces friction for smooth operation. CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and help reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.

I'm feeling lucky. - Spares

I installed them on a 79 C10 and they work very well. The downside is that one of them broke and leaked due to a factory weld at the top of the shock where it attaches to the frame. They refuse to return them if they were already installed on the vehicle, so be sure to air them out first and check for leaks. The second set worked well.

  • Always liked

Mine arrived in a different color

So far so good. Seams as a great product. Ease of installation. My only complaint is that they were supposed to be white and mine came in black. I bought white front shocks to fit and now they don't fit. This may not be a big deal to most, but if you want to build a specific type of car, it's very important.

  • Well built

Good If They Don't Leak 1987 Chevy R20

These shocks were fairly easy to install but require frequent maintenance. They require frequent attention due to constant leaks. and you need a Monroe AK64 or AK29 "repair kit" to fix your broken hardware. (I have a second repair kit) If I were to do it again I would just buy regular shocks and be done with them.

Great look for shock absorbers

O installed them on my 1986 c10. They were easy to install. It may seem that the pipe from the attachment point to the bumper wasn't enough to accommodate the air valve, but it turned out to be sufficient. They came in black, so if you're looking for white shocks like the one in the picture, they're black. I love then Received several compliments in the last 2 weeks after installation. They give my truck a nice look. Add some on the front soon.

  • New to my collection

Great for reducing sag when towing

This is a good quality damper. Ride well and give the suspension a real boost when fully loaded. Just add air and smooth the ride. My only criticism of this, and I'm sure others will, is that it wasn't giving enough air for what I think is a typical Schrader valving setup in the rear bumper area. I was installing in the suburbs and had to get an extra line from the parts store to complete the install. I could place the valve next to the rear axle but there is no convenient place to install and…

missing parts and neither amazon nor monroe will help

New and unopened packaging - the shock absorbers were fine and easy to install but the installation kit was missing o-rings (4 of them). . Kit part number AK18 - all other parts for installation came in a sealed bag (air hose and tee, inflation valve etc). So there is definitely a quality control issue at Monroe/, and their quality control inspectors missed that issue. Revain doesn't ship another kit for free / they sell it for $11. . Monroe support was abysmal and they don't send me any kit…

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
