Motorola WR850G Wireless Broadband Router Review

I did some research a year ago and thought I'd buy a netgear when my wife got the laptop. Set up EZ, don't forget to reboot and works like a charm in our 3 story house even in the basement and the unit is in the attic on the 3rd floor. I also decided to get a wireless card for a Motorola laptop. Cnet reviews, rate this as the best and hands down it is.

This kit includes 2 router stands WITHOUT ADAPTER OR POWER CORD and NO CD. I was so confused as to what I had to do with it to get the wifi to work. The Motorola website for this product says these things are in the owner's manual, but they're clearly not there. Do not buy this product, and if you do, do not buy it from Hunted Treasures.

bought the router primarily for parental controls but despite my experience with computers and networking I can't get them to work in a meaningful way. The documentation for this feature is poor and others on the web seem to find it as well. Two more complaints There was a security issue that caused Motorola to release a firmware update. I bought the WR850g 6 months ago. The user guide is well written and easy to set up. Security options include WPA and MAC address control. It worked flawlessly with my OSX Powerbook and WinXP laptop. Setting up the security protocol is a bit confusing and more examples are needed in the manual. You should also check the Motorola website for firmware updates.
