Description of Enhanced Performance: Mr. Gasket 2470R ThermoCap - Red (13 PSI) for Domestic Vehicles

Combines a pressurized radiator cap with a thermometer element that eliminates potentially dangerous guesswork. Lets you know exactly when your coolant temperature is low enough to safely open your radiator cap. To install just take off your old cap and screw on the new one. If the temperature gauge indicates that the coolant is too hot just rinse the radiator with cool water until the temperature drops into a safe zone. Also available in blue (part number 2470B) and silver (part number 2470S).

A nice addition to the replacement parts

The temperature needle is sticking out too far. I had to shave mine off to fit the radiator properly. It shows the temperature of the coolant, but if it goes too far, you have to be careful not to cut off too much of the needle, otherwise a cavity will open up inside and then the cap will leak. Then it's no use.

Great little product.

Excellent product. My old radiator cap didn't fit after replacing the radiator on my truck. So I got these. It's within 10F of my temp sensor, which is to be expected since the temp sensor is on the engine and that's on the radar. This helps me keep track of the radiant temp when it's over 90 outside and I'm running on AC. The reason is my truck never had air conditioning and I added it which means it can feel overheated, the cooling system is not designed for air conditioning. Just a handy…

Mister. Gasket 2470R Household Thermal Cover 13 PSI-RED

I've been using it for about a week. I suspect that the temperature reading on my Autometer dashboard is faulty. I also have a Summit Racing direct measure sensor on the top tank of my radiator in inches from ThermoCap. Direct reading sensor Mr. The Gasket and the Summit both read the same and on average 15 degrees colder than my Autometer gauge. So with three temperature sensors I have a minority report to determine the motor temperature. I have yet to experience ThermoCap fogging like others…

A good way to find out if the radiator, thermostat and temperature gauge are working.

I was concerned because the temperature sensor sometimes showed a very low temperature and sometimes a very high temperature. I found that my thermostat was stuck open with Mr Gasket's thermometer radiator cap and that my temperature gauge was working fine. After replacing my thermostat, my Mr. Gasket showed exactly 180 degrees; This is where the new thermostat should work, and 180 degrees is the recommended operating temperature for my car.
