I have been using this system for several years now and it is the cleanest way of sealing a thermostat housing that I have. You MUST have the correct housing with O-ring channel. I was under the impression that they could be reused as might be stated on the product packaging for the thermostat housing but the o-ring will not seal if you try to reuse it - which is why I bought these replacements and am getting the reason no 5 stars.
