Fun project for computer accessories and peripherals

This set works well. The key to making this Tesla coil work is to install the LEDs in the correct orientation, the circuit board is wrong. You have to remember that LEDs are diodes. The primary coil must be wound in the same direction as the secondary coil. The transistor is rated at 5A. The audio isn't loud (like a whisper) but still nice to look at.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • So-so

The instructions are not very detailed and not in English

The instructions are not in English. There is a list of parts labeled according to their location on the PCB. The translated spool instructions are very confusing. It also had a slot marked J3 and the instructions (translated into English) said it was for a fan, but no fan was included. My 10 year old son and I did everything with the instructions provided. However, he did not intervene. I'll try some of the suggestions in the product comments and see how it goes. I have my own thicker magnetโ€ฆ

Capacitor missing

It is highly recommended to check out other versions of this article. The kit does not include a power cord, and in my case there was no capacitor. Lessons in Chinese. There is a picture showing what it should look like, but it's completely deleted from the version I have. I suspect it took more than just a trip from the Amazon warehouse to wear out the paper. There are other similar options that cost a few dollars more and come with a power cord and instructions in English. I'll bet all partsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Great fun, but not for beginners.

Works, but operating voltage varies greatly from block to block. I built two, but the first device ran at about 9V and the other at 13V. I had to replace the transistor when trying to run at the recommended input voltage. I switched to variable feed and found every working point

Pros
  • Good Thing
Cons
  • Style 90

A few parts are missing but at the price of

I ended up missing a few parts I'm sure you can buy cheaper plus instructions not in English but there are translators that up to one work to some degree. everything is like that, just ordinary little problems that add up to an overall score, mainly for the first one

Pros
  • a practical item
Cons
  • High price

Critical Construction Information None

Pros: Good quality PCB with clear markings. Extremely easy to assemble. A fun shortcode with decent results for its size. Cons: No instructions. 1 screw missing. LED 2 is marked on the circuit board with the back. Contrary to what most of us are used to, the anode needs to be connected to ground, not the base of Q2. More importantly, this won't work if the primary coil isn't wound in the same direction as the secondary coil. Lots of pictures online for reference.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

It doesn't work on computers and accessories

I can't get it to work. The LED lights up and it gets very hot. But there is no spark. I've tried some of the other suggestions posted here, changing the winding, etc. Edited: It worked for me. People are right that the secondary coil should be wound in the same direction as the primary coil.

  • Absolute Legend
