Watch hands are very thin. When I compare them to the hands I replace, they are brittle, almost like flimsy cardboard painted silver. The shaft is also very flat which means the dial has to be thin because the nut has to be screwed onto the shaft. Other designs have a hollow bolt that screws into the dial, which is a much stronger design. So it didn't go through the glass dial of my watch.
