Woke up and found the disc is no longer readable on any of my PCs. Created a support ticket and then contacted support to pre-authorize a return. I called someone, gave them information about my CC and was assured a replacement is on the way. Printed a label, shipped my old drive and expected a replacement in a few days. A week later I request tracking information from the support team. After 2 days my drive is shipped to Mushkin and I finally get tracking of my replacement drive. Do not…

Inexpensive and reliable, after a year of use.

I used this drive to replace my Pavilion dm1 11 inch laptop hard drive and it was the perfect choice, it brought this little laptop back to life, it turns on so quickly and out I can't help but worry about putting it to sleep or hibernate like before. It's also best to use this in a laptop: you don't have to worry about damaging the drive with accidental bumps or sudden movements. Makes the laptop as quiet as the CPU fan Doesn't heat up as much as a hard drive (not really noticeable) Better…

Great ride. Fast local operations

Stuffed this baby in my 6 year old laptop. Works perfectly. An error occurred on the first boot, but I've seen this happen with other SSDs as the computer doesn't immediately recognize the new drive. Let it do its thing and after that it works fine. I've had it for about a month now, so I'll provide updates if anything changes. For those of you trying to buy this drive to speed up your internet, this isn't the right solution. This is only intended to be run on the local computer.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Volume

I bought this almost a month ago and it has lived up to my expectations, with a gaming pc I had a regular hard drive that was still decently fast, especially when I upgraded my pc bought for the first time. But then, like everything else in this world, it started to slow down and just didn't live up to my expectations. Then I came across this 500GB Mushkin Reactor SSD. And I read some reviews about it, watched some videos and took the risk of owning my first SSD. At first I was going to go with

  • Best in its niche

Good deal for a decent SSD

Bought two of these and they fit inexpensive drives. I've seen 250MB/s reads on two inexpensive laptops that have them installed (I just didn't have time for details in the read test), but that speed was everywhere with no dips. They're not as fast as the Samsung EVO, but they cost less. Cloning software isn't included so it's up to you, but for building from scratch or if you have the tools and know what you're doing it's fine. I wish I had time to run a full suite of tests as they weren't as…

Mushkin Reactor SSD meets or exceeds

MLC - cheers. 500GB for $149 - hooray. Freetail - Yay.Mushkin doesn't have much talkative support on his side - miss that a bit. Doesn't come with cloning software but what comes with mfrs is rarely used by me so hmmm. The drive itself - MLC (2 bits per cell and slightly faster than TLC 3 bits per cell) - and the price were quite encouraging. I've never had a bad Mushkin product and they came back with a fast MLC SSD at a good price. FreeTail seems fast and efficient, which is always nice. Met…

Attention buyers! You don't get what you think you ordered. Mushkin

I rarely write product reviews, but this time I had to. First of all, I ordered this SSD (Mushkin REACTOR) according to the reviews on several websites and people's reviews. However, there is a "hidden" place in this particular SSD that I want to mention. Mushkin REACTOR is available in two versions! One is in the reviews that comes with Micron's 16nm MLC NAND and has "good" read/write speeds and IOPS, and the other comes with an UNKNOWN brand of NAND (not even sure if it's MLC) and has almost…

faulty drive best in internal solid state drives

To be honest this is the only drive I've tried from this manufacturer but it was DOA. Sometimes recognized in BIOS but never in Windows. Wouldn't format, clone etc. Went back for SanDisk and worked right out of the box. Like I said, I may have just gotten a lemon, but reviews should be based on experience, and my experience with this drive wasn't great.

  • Good workmanship

1 of 2 drives died within a month

Bought 2 of them and 1 died in less than a month. I installed the hard drives at the end of December and before the end of January one of them failed and started making errors. Of course. It's also just past the return deadline, so I'm out of luck. If you take the plunge, make sure you have reliable backups. I'm having serious trust issues with the remaining disk right now.
