Good fit and easy installation. But. This item has no hinges to hold the door in place. The only thing holding the door in place is gravity. I hope I remember this next time I clean the chimney so I don't drop the door into the ash pan below.

I'd say 4.8 but that's not an option. My only issue with this is that it didn't just "fit" in the opening where the old cinder dump door was, I would have to grind 1/8" to 1/4" of the brick to fit it. However, it's very well made, much better than the old warped steel I just threw in the trash. I'm sure it will last the life of this house or longer! Very good.

The hole seemed to fit as the old mouldboard cover seemed identical to the new one, but there was still a need to finish the corners with a Drexel sander. Please note that the cover will fall off (like the old cover) and it is very important to remove it first and place it in a safe place before installation. I would think that the manufacturer made a slight improvement to the design compared to its predecessor. Decades, but no!
