Use a true 4x4 stance. Make sure it's 3.5 x 3.5.

They went perfectly with the restoration of our deck. They made rack installation easy and were surprisingly strong. NOTE* You must use a true 4x4 (3.5" x 3.5") rack. cozy in the base.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • So-so

They're great when you need strong rails

They work great. My only issue is that on the standard 1x6, many of the screws seem to line up with the edge of the board and split the wood even when pre-drilled. All in all a great product and I would buy it again. Another complaint I have is the slightly high price. I always want to know, and in case anyone is wondering, the stain color on the deck is ReadySeal's Dark Walnut.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Socket required

This post base cover looked like it was made to order.

Bought this rack base cover to add the finishing touch to my mailbox setup. Couldn't find anything at my local hardware store but decided to check Amazon and found exactly what I needed to complete my project. I also bought a can of white primer and krylon paint and applied two coats of paint to it along with the screws provided that came with the bottom cap. Includes 3 photos of the finished project.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Still solid and very happy with the installation

As others have usually said I would also attach the posts to the joists below the deck. It didn't work on this deck, so we tried these. Every bit is just as reliable and very happy with the install. I had to remove a few posts as they are very narrow. Some posts fit perfectly and some need a little work. That's all you have to do to make posts uneven. Time will tell how outdated they are, but if I were to do another deck project I would definitely get them for the posts.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Clarity

Reliable product, good for post

I've used four of these already and will be ordering more in the near future. They look much nicer than standard galvanized metal anchors. Of course, they don't offer as much support as metal poles, but they're strong enough for deck ladder posts. Racks fit without trimming and are easy to align. I used them on a concrete patio so I had to use concrete screws instead of the ones included in the kit. This is not a fault of the product, it is made for a wooden surface and not concrete, but with…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Compatibility

Urgently needs to be installed on new builds

I thought I could put them on the racks from below as they came from below instead of above from the deck. The flare made it impossible to don them because they were framed under the deck boards. This is a shame as the bottoms of the deck posts are quite gnawed due to all the deck boards being replaced / nails needing to be removed from the undersides of the cleats to move the deck boards out and then back under. The uprights are gnawed/damaged within the first 4 inches or so from the bottom so

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • There are nuances
