Description of Nail Place Post Cap Wood

Use for 4" Wood Posts (3 1/2" x 3 1/2" actual) Total Height: 1.25". Protect your investment! Current pressure treating often does not reach the center of the post. An exposed wood top allows rotting to begin faster than usual. Take time to measure your post not all 4x4 post are the same dimension. These black fence post caps are for a standard 4X4 wood fence post (3.5"x3.5") this cap measures 3 5/8"x 3 5/8. The hole is 1/8” or 0.125” so a 6D or 11 gauge nail 2 inches long should be fine. Made in USA Easily Nails or Screws on. Do not use glue like others recommend for their caps. It will flex, crack, and break,.

Your search for capital letters ends here

I've been looking for capital letters for a long time. You can also just stop looking here. You are perfect! Of course they are made of plastic. but in the end no one will notice or care. The best mail cap in terms of value for money. When the sun fades, just remove it and quickly spray paint on it. Or, if you want to be trendy, paint them with copper spray paint. Or heck, just buy more. You've already saved a lot of money by not buying metal or wood.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Excellent value for money

These are plain black post caps that fit 3 1/2" square fence posts, not 4". Hole for a nail to attach had to do a bit of digging to find a nail to attach, without a nail they just come off. I would have preferred to put the holes on the side so the weather would affect the end of the pin less, but applying a bit of silicone to the bottom before setting it in place and hammering the nail works well. They can be painted with Krylon paint for any look.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Useful for fence posts, maybe not as elegant as it gets

I used these to cover the tops of 4 x 4 fence posts. They fit well and a screw at the top keeps them in place: easy to make a dozen or more in under an hour. They will work with #6 or #8 drywall screws (stainless or zinc plated if you're worried about rusting): I'd recommend 2 ¼ or 2 ½. If they fit easily, put them on, put some caulk on them, let it dry for an hour and put a screw through the caulk: instant sealing on a flat surface.

Perfect Fence Toppers 5 Stars

I bought these to decorate a newly built horse fence. They're affordable and saved me from sealing the tops of the fence posts when we cut them down. They come in larger quantities which was also perfect for me as I needed 48 and they came in a box of 54. Yes, they're plastic, but they do the job and won't break my wallet. Definitely recommend and buy again. In the photo they can be seen on the cross ties as we haven't cut the tops of the fence posts yet. Perfect fit for my 4x4 treated wood…

  • Perfect for Outdoor Activities
Cons
  • Nothing

Perfect for some not others

I have 2 fences and these 4 inch caps fit these fence posts perfectly, one set of posts is square and the other is angled. I just had to find matching nails. I also have backyard steps with a pressure treated post that did not fit due to a long piece of plastic in the cover hole. These ladder posts are cut on 4 deeply beveled sides with a square cut at the top so this long piece prevented it from to sit on a pole. I removed the old black caps from my square fence post and put the new ones on…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are new competitors
