Useful for fence posts, maybe not as elegant as it gets
I used these to cover the tops of 4 x 4 fence posts. They fit well and a screw at the top keeps them in place: easy to make a dozen or more in under an hour. They will work with #6 or #8 drywall screws (stainless or zinc plated if you're worried about rusting): I'd recommend 2 ¼ or 2 ½. If they fit easily, put them on, put some caulk on them, let it dry for an hour and put a screw through the caulk: instant sealing on a flat surface.
