Super disappointed with this magnet. My son and I recently got a couple nice metal detectors and ordered this magnet to add to our adventures box. This thing is weak. Will barely pick up a 2lb pair of steel metal sheers that I have. Has to be directly over it and practically touching it to pick it up. One little wiggle and they fall right off. I can’t imagine this thing would be successful at picking anything up under water. Also unable to return it or I absolutely would. The provided carabiner

People that rate this bad don’t know how they are suppose to work. The more dense the metal is, the more powerful the magnet is. If you place a wrench on the magnet for example, it’s easy to get off. Attach it to a metal vise on your work bench. good luckTwo things I would change: the carabiner is a little weak. And I would include a plug for the flat sides when using the top eyelet in the water.This is a great price.

Great magnet, just make sure you tie your own knot in the rope around the magnet. Threw it in the water about 5 times and the plastic casing holding the two ends of the rope slipped and lost the magnet in the water. We were lucky and able to find it. Just make sure to tie it so it doesn't happen to you.

Hopefully, this product will enable me to find smaller meteorites. I'll follow up with my success or failure. Regardless, the magnet is super strong as advertised. I'm very pleased with the quality and price.

I was very excited to use this on a summer vacation, third (3rd!) toss in and the rope this comes with came apart from the carabiner and the magnet literally just fell off into the depths (it’s all included- it’s meant for the magnet- a rope, and at one end is a carabiner you attach to the magnet). I bought this 1000lb strength magnet to do salvage fishing and tested it on 20lbs of weight. Needless to say it did not pick up the 20lbs of weight. I'm very disappointed.

Got it today and was super excited, Everything seemed to be going smooth tied the rope around to make sure I wouldn’t lose it and after a few throws of my first throws I just came off the magnet was just gone. It seemed like I had to continually screw it tighter for it even stay connected. Very disappointed though and wasted my money.

This is a great little one-stop-shopping option. Please note, it does NOT include red loctite thread locking epoxy as some of the other kits do, I intentionally bought this kit because it didn’t, as I already have loads of loctite, and you only ever use just a dab, and a bottle lasts forever. I would say you’re lucky if this can pick up 100 pounds. But we’re going to keep it because we really don’t need to be lifting things up any heavier there’s no way it can do 300 pounds and a combined amount of 600

The gloves hat this came with are cheaply made, very very thin and flimsy and the rope has wires sticking out of the end of it and has cut my hand several times. Not happy with this purchase at all :(

Gloves good. Comes with handy tough plastic-foam storage block. (Greatly reduces annoying clinging to everything) Do not throw that away! Rope very long and good quality.

Tried using this and its durable but the magnet is not strong at all. I tried it in my pool and couldn't even pull up a fishing rod with it. Also i tried it outside of water and wouldn't pull up a 10lb chair. Sorry but not worth it for me. Wasted my money.

Magnet "fishing” is a lot of fun! These are the perfect size for tossing out into the water with the hope of finding something interesting. It is strong enough to pull up half of a car bumper from the lake via personal experience!

Very strong magnet, picked up a mower deck with it flat on the steel. Gloves are for small hands. Caribiner is steel so it gets stuck on magnet sideways sometimes. But overall its a good setup.
