Notice the difference!

This product was tested 7 times at 7 different McDonalds locations. Here are the stable results. WiFi extender 200 feet from McDonalds parking lot Download: 50 to 60 Mbps Download: 9 to 20 What does it mean if this WiFi extender is parked at a reasonable distance (right behind the McDonalds parking lot) you won't have any problems thus have YouTube videos click and watch everything without interruption. Since the power strip isn't parked in the same spot (100-200 feet away), you don't have to…

Pros
  • USB 3.0 adapter
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Complete with Netgear products

There might be no point in writing this review as Revain hides negative product reviews to reinforce the more positive bot reviews, but here it is. Netgear products are terribly buggy, including this WiFi adapter. It's not recognized on my computer, installation is a hassle, and the Wi-Fi signal is spotty at best. The company's technical support is practically useless and a scam, and the installation software contains other malware that no one wants. Before attempting to use this device, I had…

Pros
  • Maximum range and performance
Cons
  • For retirees

works without additional software on Linux Mint 19.3 (Ubuntu-based)

I bought this in late 2014 and it's now Spring 2020. I've used this on several desktops and laptops. Reception is good (not as good as my dual antenna Panda, but within 20% of Panda reception). I just plugged it into my Linux Mint 19.3 installation and it worked without any additional software. Doesn't work on 19.2, works on 19.3. Mint is based on Ubuntu if that helps. So it is durable, works on Win 7, Win 10 and at least Linux Mint 19.3.

Pros
  • Faster USB 3.0 access; USB 2.0 compliant
Cons
  • Appearance

Windows 10 disaster

Completely broken on Windows 10. Worked great on Windows 7. The Netgear software doesn't recognize the device when it's connected to a network, so not only do I use the Netgear Wireless Utility to fix this problem, but I can't get it to work at all now. Windows 10 does not have good built-in driver support. The only way I used this OK successfully in Windows 10 for a while (before it stopped working once and for all) was to install a random Mediatek wireless driver that I read about on a forum…

Pros
  • WiFi performance: AC1200 (300Mbps / 867Mbps)
Cons
  • Big and chunky

They worked great initially and I was very happy

Not getting any answers without jumping through hoops is my only recourse. I bought 2 AC1200 from Revain and 1 AC600 from Walmart less than a year ago. In the beginning they worked great and I was very satisfied. However, after 8-10 months they ALL failed. You just died! I tried contacting tech at Netgear and found it a nightmare otherwise I could have been billed $70 for a support call. I have relied on Cisco (now Linksys) for years and have been very happy, but seeing the amount of feedback…

Pros
  • Supports Windows PC, doesn't support Apple Mac
Cons
  • For a long time

AC1200 Works great but BE CAREFUL, don't use plug and play

First thoughts are very positive. My connection speed went from 20-29 Mbps to 66 Mbps (this is an internet speed test - I get a network connection of 78-144 Mbps) which is amazing what I get when connected via a wired connection am. I have a TP Link AC C8 router. My computer is about 100+ feet from the router and goes through 4 walls. What I like: - I can actually connect to the 5GHz band from the distance I'm at. - I get three times more speed than usual. in wireless mode vs. wireless N. It…
