Exceptional Network Tester

As an Industrial and Scientific professional, I use the LINKRUNNER Ethernet Network Tester all the time, and I can't recommend it enough. Upon using it, I found that it's an efficient and reliable tool that accurately diagnoses any network issue. One of the things that really stood out for me is how easy and intuitive it is to use; it's a real time-saver! Unfortunately, the only real cons are the price, but if you're willing to invest, it's well worth the cost. The NETSCOUT LRAT 2000 LinkRunner

Pros
  • Easy-to-use network testing tool with a user-friendly interface
Cons
  • May experience connectivity issues when testing long cable distances

Beware that old units are sold as "new " units!

"New" obviously means it has never been sold. This does not mean that they are newly produced. I was expecting to have a unit built recently, like last year or so, especially since Fluke themselves told me that Revain doesn't keep stuff on the shelf or sell old units. I asked Fluke for the serial number and this was built on February 28th 2011 so it sat on a shelf somewhere for FIVE YEARS as its battery was slowly dying. I don't expect the battery to last as long as a really new device…

Pros
  • AutoTest accurately detects network problems in 10 seconds
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Essential for anyone who needs to document managed switch networks.

If you have managed network switches that support LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) or CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol), this device follows the feedback and tells you which switch port the network wall port is connected to connected is. It will also tell you if the network cable is good (no terminator on the other end) and how long the cable is. If you need to freeze parts of the network that others have left in tatters because of lousy documentation or crappy cables, this is the device for…

Pros
  • Portable Ethernet tester for fast, automated testing of network connectivity and availability. Connect an RJ-45 cable or fiber optic cable (model 2000 only) from a network hub or wallplate to the LinkRunner AT's RJ-45 LAN port or fiber optic port.
Cons
  • Lean Instruction
