Optimize-Engineered New Balance 519 V1 Kids' Running Shoe Review

The Velcro is angled too far towards the shin on a pair we recently ordered. Within a day my 19 month old son developed abrasions on both shins from repeated rubbing of both shins. His socks sit high when you first put them on, but over time they slide down and don't cover that area. I don't want to buy stockings just so he can wear shoes. Very disappointed as I LOVE NB traditionally and would recommend them as an orthopedic provider to all patients.

I found it really pretty and easy for my preschooler to put on in the morning. But the first day she put them on, she came home to find that the fabric around the heel of the shoe was completely snagged and detached. They were both shoes, suggesting she just wasn't used to something. It can't be repaired, so I sent it back.

I have always loved the New Balance shoes and my 5 year old loves them, even with their orthotics no complaints and the price is very affordable for a great shoe.

A big enough toe box (we have a wide one) but too bulky to climb the rungs on the playground. Also, the glue or rubber on the back of the shoe started peeling off on the first day of use.

I tried exchanging them for a larger size, they said you can only replace. For example why do I need the same shoes if they are too small when it is clearly stated that I can return a different size? Start rethinking this premium Amazon thing.

Nice pair of shoes but lasted just over 2 months! A lot of money spent for a short period of use. Son didn't even wear it every day.

This is a must-have shoe for your child. I think others might stay away because of the color but it's worth it. New Balance is a great brand and they make quality shoes. New Balance for $13? Count me in

My daughter loves the rainbow sequins and her shoes. We only buy New Balances so this was a fun pair to add to her collection.

Very good children's shoes. We have had issues with Velcro straps not providing adequate support in the past. But not with these very light, strong (so far) and comfortable New Balances. Too bad they are made in the USA, but willing to sometimes compromise the country of origin of the children's clothes. (You grow out of them so fast).

I love the way they fit and look on my firstborn! He wore them until they were too small for him and I still have them waiting for his little brother to grow into them. So I like to buy shoes that last long enough to be passed on or given away. I will buy more for my sons.

I love that they make functional and stylish velcro sneakers for older kids. They took a long time. My child says they are comfortable.

They fit perfectly and last a long time. It's the only shoe that won't fall apart or have holes in it once the kids outgrow it. They are not rigid or heavy. I feel good putting my growing feet in it. Shoes are very important to me because I want to be supported in all their movement and growth. Back and hip problems later in life are often associated with foot problems. Great shoes!

We tried NB's regular wide leg sneakers but still couldn't get our foot in comfortably. XW has done its job. He still has some space in front, but we'll take what we can get for now!

The shoes and sole have a flexible feel, allowing children to make large movements. Child has been wearing it daily for a few months, hasn't seen much wear yet other than getting dirty. good product.

Tried different shoes for my daughter. These were the most flexible and comfortable. I love the glitter in black and pink adds a pop of color. My daughter declared her the winner.

I bought these for my daughter as she needed a pair of good quality running shoes for a lot of sporting activities. She is about a size 4.5 so I took the advice in the reviews and ordered up to a size 5. The shoe fits well right out of the box and offers good cushioning and arch support. So far they've all been pretty durable and survived the rough handling of three different sports.
