Updated Dell Inspiron Desktop with Samsung SSD

Apricorn 3.5" SATA Wire Laptop Hard Drive Mount and USB 3.0 Port Upgrade Kit ASW-USB3-25. Apricorn software didn't work - tried twice, finished with no errors - but then failed. However, I was able to download all files from my desktop to the SSD with an Apricorn USB 3.0 to SATA cable and Samsung Migration Software (free online download) with no errors. Put an SSD in a Dell machine and turned it on and everything was the same, hard drive data, favorite web sites, windows etc - rebooting was…

Great solution for my Apple iMac 27 " 5K Retina

This adapter is a quality product and worth the money. I recently upgraded my Apple 5K iMac 27" 2015 Late 2015 models. I had to replace the retina screen and while the display was off I also upgraded my hard drive. This adapter worked great. No additional thermal sensors or anything else are required. Steps: I removed the old 3.5" drive, moved the small black drive mounting screws from the old drive to the NewerTech AdaptaDrive bracket, inserted the new SSD/bracket and secured the drive to it…

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Worked! Hard Drive Accessory

This worked great for storing a 2.5" SSD when upgrading from a factory 3.5" Fusion drive in my Late 2015 27" iMac. I'm not sure why even need a SATA passthrough instead of making a bracket just place the drive in the same corner but it seems to work fine and is still inexpensive. There were 8 screws (2 sets of 4) included in the bag that differ very slightly so I had to go through them all to determine which ones actually fit correctly while the other 4 were not used in my application.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Uncertain

Quickly. Easy. Light.

Wait a minute! Fix the SSD to the bracket with 4 fine screws (included) and then fix the bracket to the rails with 4 coarse screws (included). Note that guides with quick release pins may not require coarse thread screws. This is the second adapter of this particular make and model that I have used in a corporate environment and I intend to purchase more. NewerTech AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" mount

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Very expensive

For the best, easiest, most reliable adapter you'll find

Great, strong, simple, by far the best of the half dozen I've used. The holes match perfectly. No brittle / tricky sheet metal. Small enough to hold two 2.5" drives instead of one 3.5" drive. NOTE: Includes 4 fine thread screws for 2.5" SSDs and 4 coarse thread screws for 3.5" drives. They are small, superficially very similar, and not interchangeable. This is likely the source of several "screws don't fit" complaints in other reviews.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Boring packaging
