The package has been opened. A device like a mech.

The box was opened because it was partially open when received. The battery cover is very difficult to open and when you open it is difficult to screw it back on properly, there seems to be a good chance the cover will come loose. I'll be testing it out this weekend but tend to return it until I'm impressed.

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Better image stabilization than some other rangefinders

Very similar image stabilization - better than most, especially at longer ranges. I would give it 5 stars except that it does NOT have a built in magnet like the others to attach it to the golf cart frame while playing golf. Yes, it is possible to order velcro (separately of course) for attachment to the golf cart frame, but this does not make it easy to use.

Pros
  • Easy setup

Is it worth $$$?

At first I didn't want to spend $450 on a range finder. Other functionalities can be obtained much more cheaply. The question you need to ask yourself is: Is differentiated functionality worth it? For me, the stabilization, the size that fits in my back pocket, and the cool Nikon optical lenses are... worth it. I don't think about the operations on the track...doesn't bother and people notice. Is the Daytona worth $40,000 just because it tells the time? Is it worth? You must be your own judge…

Precise, precise and fast!

This device has sharp optics and the best image stabilization you've come to expect from Nikon. A light press when the target is "locked" provides physical feedback and reassurance that the device has found the intended target. When looking through the viewfinder, shading and other visual symbols are crisp and clear. I used to have a Callway Nikon rangefinder (which I was happy with) and bought it without having seen or used it. This model is lighter and has the added tilt feature that I…

The best on the market. Six rangefinders later I found the perfect one!

This thing is a beast! I love this rangefinder so much. I went through six different rangefinders, all coming back after a round of golf to get to this one. Pros: 1. Image stabilization is a must! No more desperate attempts to freeze to hit the flag. Once you've tried this feature on your own, you'll never want to be without it.2. Crystal clear optics - the best on the market3. I like the green circle flag blocking feature4. Fast illumination - instant reading. I can read the flag, front and…

Fast and very easy to use - ideal for shaky hands!

I put off buying a rangefinder for a long time because I had a hard time holding it steady and getting readings. My hands just weren't strong enough. This Nikon rangefinder hit the spot for me, and the word "stabilized" in the product name is no joke. I received it on Thursday, played it twice over the weekend and am writing a review on Monday. The built in stabilization feature is amazing and I got readings much quicker than with non stabilized rangefinders which just couldn't lock onto the…

Image stabilization is a game changer!

Some of my golfing friends have rangefinders from Blue Tees and Bushnell. These are all amazing rangefinders with their own pros and cons. So when it came time to buy my own I wanted to see what other options were available. The Nikon is a bit pricey (not that much compared to the best Bushnell models), but the image stabilization is a game changer. At 150 yards it's difficult to get a stable pin mark. Pressing and (insert marketing term here for aiming at a target) helps build confidence that…
