The box was opened because it was partially open when received. The battery cover is very difficult to open and when you open it is difficult to screw it back on properly, there seems to be a good chance the cover will come loose. I'll be testing it out this weekend but tend to return it until I'm impressed.

Very similar image stabilization - better than most, especially at longer ranges. I would give it 5 stars except that it does NOT have a built in magnet like the others to attach it to the golf cart frame while playing golf. Yes, it is possible to order velcro (separately of course) for attachment to the golf cart frame, but this does not make it easy to use.

At first I didn't want to spend $450 on a range finder. Other functionalities can be obtained much more cheaply. The question you need to ask yourself is: Is differentiated functionality worth it? This device has sharp optics and the best image stabilization you've come to expect from Nikon. A light press when the target is "locked" provides physical feedback and reassurance that the device has found the intended target.
