I didn't expect the quality to be so high.

The lens took a boo, so the flaws can be individual. The first thing that does not please is misses in AF. But it gave one big plus. I started taking pictures only in manual focus mode. And this turned out to be a turning point. I am 100% sure of him. Metallic, looks confident, albeit small. Looks tiny on my D700. The rubber came off after a lot of use. It does not affect the work, but sometimes it causes discomfort. Loud. Autofocus is as if he will now turn into a robot and go about his…

Pros
  • - Metal case - Accurate and confident focus ring - Interesting and recognizable picture
Cons
  • - Misses with auto focus - Over time, the rubber focus ring leaves - Sometimes the aperture value block on the lens flies

I chose for a long time, I even thought about the modern, not new, but not ancient G-version, but I didn’t like the slowness, plus Krasitsky (aka DVDM) caught up with doubts by comparing 1.8D, 1.4G and 1.4D versions. I also really wanted the sharpness of the new 50mm Sigma and the 45mm Tamron stabilizer. But the weight, the size. if you give up on them, then I have not that razor-sharp, but more than sufficient 24-70 / 2.8G. I wanted something compact, light, with a nice picture, not inferior…

Pros
  • Lightweight, compact, fast, very nice picture during the day, good sharpness at aperture from 2 and good - from 2.8, inexpensive.
Cons
  • Here, aliexpress considers it necessary to write "what did not live up to your expectations." But I already knew a lot about the lens and there is nothing "unjustified" here))) Among the shortcomings (well, you never know, who doesn’t know) are “nuts” on bright light sources, since the aperture is 7-bladed and without rounding. Sharpness, of course, is not phenomenal, again, coma, HA, etc.

There are deviations, in general it is tolerable.

Became my first full frame fix. Until there were other lenses, I could not understand what was wrong with the picture and why, all other things being equal, my RAW differs so much from the ravs of other photographers, I tried to pull it out of the sources in Lightroom for a long time, sinned on the camera, almost went to Canon, but when I got other G-series lenses, I realized that this was the case. Sold and bought 50 1.4G - heaven and earth. Maybe, of course, I got such a copy, but I do not…

Pros
  • Overall good for the money. At 1.4-1.8 it gives good bokeh, there is practically no distortion even in large portraits.
Cons
  • Zelenit. Moreover, this greenery in the shadows cannot be removed even with prolonged processing. The focus is very smeared, in the back it cannot focus at all. The picture is "cheap" and plastic.

The purchase brought only positive emotions.

Not exactly flaws, but rather features: the lens has quite noticeable distortion, vignettes quite strongly on the full frame. Sometimes this is good for the picture, sometimes it gets in the way. On an open aperture, it has a very beautiful pattern in the blur zone, on a covered circle from point sources they turn into heptahedrons. Resolution, contrast, color reproduction are good. In total, an excellent staffer for a full frame, both on film and on digital. Not suitable for everyone on a…

Pros
  • Accurately and very quickly focuses on older cameras Has high luminosity Produces a sharp and beautiful picture at a fully open aperture Small, light, cheap
Cons
  • The release of the lens is discontinued, you can only buy used or stock balances Autofocus will not work on the youngest cameras, and the manual travel of the focus ring is short Easily catches "hares" due to the large front lens Contrast sometimes drops in frontal lighting

The best thing for the money, Im glad I chose this option.

Now there will be capstvo and tediousness. I would like to remind people that 50mm is not a "portrait". "Portrait" is 105 / 2.0 for example. And 50 / 1,4 is a "staff", otherwise called "normal". In film times, something similar was most often found on cameras as a "whale" one: Helios-44-2 is logically similar to a subject. Therefore, a brief description of the subject for Soviet filmmakers will be "the hole is even wider, and there is autofocus."

Pros
  • 1. Geometrically perfect: there are no barrels / pillows, you can compare other lenses with it. 2. Sharp. From 2.0 it is perfectly sharp, at 1.8 it is quite. 3. Beautiful bokeh. 4. Nimble. 5. Lightweight. 6. Relatively cheap.
Cons
  • If you try to invent for a very long time what to write down as a disadvantage, then here: 1. The front lens is outside, unlike 50 / 1.8d (in which the front lens is recessed deep inside), so it is easier to scratch it, and it also needs more in blend. But 90% of all lenses have just such a lens position, everyone is used to it.

I'm impressed! Exactly the product deserves your attention.

I recently purchased a 50mm 1.4D "Made in Japan" in Japan. The sharpness is amazing and everything else is flawless. I shoot in RAW. Most photos can be sent to print without processing in photo editors. I was looking, however, for this "Made in Japan" lens for a very long time and found it on ebay from the Japanese. I do not advise taking Chinese ones, you will be disappointed. Sincerely. Sergey A.

Pros
  • Picture, sharpness, aperture ratio, focus, reliability, eternity.
Cons
  • Didn't reveal.

A nice option for the money, one of the best deals.

Bought as a fast lens. "Well, a normal photographer should have a fix." as it turned out later, apertures convenient for shooting start at 2.8-4. so that the eyes would be in sharpness and the ears would fall there a little. and not one eye in sharpness, the other not, while the model is almost exactly looking. yes, you have to move a lot with him to get the necessary angles. autofocus is fast enough. Yes, there are some distortions, no matter what they say that the fifty dollars does not have…

Pros
  • luminosity, low price, low weight
Cons
  • fix.
