I like it so far - camera and photo

I received this product on September 25th, very late in the season when most of my favorite outdoor shooting scenarios were already in autumn mode, so I didn't have the appropriate shooting opportunities I would have. earlier this year. I shoot close-ups/macros in nature. I bought this unit because of the increased number of flashbulbs, the advertised detailing of the backlight controls, and most importantly, the advertised diffuser. I was impressed by the improvement in my shots in difficultโ€ฆ

Pros
  • HIGH SPEED SYNC (HSS) UP TO 1/8000 - High Speed Sync allows you to shoot even in bright sunlight with a larger aperture for a shallow depth of field ie f/2.8 @ 1/ 8000 seconds
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Great flash, really improves insect macro photography in low light

It was a bit difficult for me to learn how to use it, but I think that was mainly because I had never used a flash before. Once I figured out the right settings on my Canon 6d it was amazing. I can take close-up shots of insects in my garden in much worse light than without and get great fill flash when the sun is out. It doesn't drain rechargeable batteries, but I can shoot for hours on a set of batteries I bought for it. The only thing that frustrates me is that with a shutter speed limitedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • FINE POWER CONTROL - MF18 offers manual power control from 1/1 to 1/64 in 1/3 EV increments, fine macro power control from 1/128 to 1/1024 in Steps 1/6 EV steps, TTL compensation -3.0 to +3.0 in 1/3 EV steps, Auto
Cons
  • The list is long.

Great Macro Flash: Flashes

I bought a very cheap ring flash a year ago. Cheapness more than justifies its name. You often get what you pay for. I'm primarily a wildlife photographer, but I try my hand at macro photography from time to time. Since I don't do macro photography very often, I really didn't want to spend almost $1000 on a Canon macro flash and had to turn around and buy an adapter to fit the end of my Canon 100mm macro lens. It's just stupid in my opinion. Not to mention that Canon only offers an adapter ring

Pros
  • POWERFUL RING FLASH. With a guide number of 16 (m), the MF18 offers maximum depth of field for close-ups of nature and teeth, ie f/32 with 100mm macro lenses
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Fantastic ring flash - very powerful light output

I've been using this ring flash for 6 years with a Nikon D7000 and a Nikon 105mm macro lens. It's a reliable workhorse in my dental practice. I like that it has enough light output to allow me to photograph a patient's mouth at f32, which helps a lot in getting good depth of field in my photos.

Pros
  • SIMPLE INTERFACE COLOR LCD - The MF18's intuitive and bright color LCD displays large, easy to read numerical values that are easy to read even in broad daylight
Cons
  • I will add later
